As a high school student, my future is still pretty undecided and I don't yet know what I want to do with my life. What about you guys? I know that a lot of you are older and already have established career paths - is that what you always wanted? And for the younger ones - what do you want to do?

I wanted to be a psychologist since I was about 12. I have always been passionate about studying it, but somewhat less so about practicing it. I'm a school psychologist now, and it's hard to be passionate about a job that's about 90% paperwork. Some passions don't translate well into great careers, although there are good things about my job. My other passion is writing. I knew I would have a difficult time making a career as a novelist, which is why I chose psychology as a career field instead of majoring in creative writing or something like that. Now I want to be able to do more with my writing; it's hard to find time in the day to do that, but I am going to make it a priority. If you don't know what you want to do, I would suggest trying some different things. Have a talk with your school counselor and maybe take some career tests that help identify your interests. If you are going to college, take different types of classes and see what interests you. Colleges also have career centers that can help you. Good luck!
