YOUTUBE saveing internet space?

Do you think youtube is saveing space on the internet instead of letting people post the videos on a seperate website.

Well a video is still the same size, no matter what site it is on. But youtube saves alot of time and grief for internet users. As many people just upload videos from there camera phones, and know very little about webmastering. So they cannot make a website, and add the videos themselves. They find the file and let youtube do the work. So I guess it could save space as it helps from new sites being opened up.
