Well I know a 15 year old that is going to therapy so she can go get the surgary done. I personaly dont think it is a good idea, not for kids anyway. Yea shes big but if you eat fast food and pizza everyday, and dont exercise than more than likely your gone to be big. i think there are more options out there besides this. I know people that have had it done, they lost alot of weight and now they look sick. You have to go to a therapist so they can say you need it, you keep a food jornal for a year, when its done you cant eat for like a month you have to drink stuff, you can only eat little bits of stuff when you finally can eat. you cant drink alcohol and i think thisis too much for a kid to handle. Plus your stomach can strech back out so if you dont learn good eating habits than your gone to get fat again. What do you think??

I think gastric bypass can be a godsend, for some people. I personally would love to have it. I think kids are too young to understand the undertaking that they will be going through. There is no way I would let my kids go through it. I am trying to teach my kids healthy eating habits and to be active. So far, so good. Children should never be given the option of surgery for weight loss. Kids can do so much more about thier weght than an adult can. There is time for correction in a child. And in thier parents. If a child is that heavy, then you should look to the parents more than the child.

and if a child needs to lose weight and the parents won't help, then maybe a government agency should step in

i agree with you. the parents should know better too because they watched there mother go threw it. i think it a very very stupid idea to do it on kids. i am trying to teach my kid good eating habits but its had because i have very bad eating habits, but i dont want my kid to go threw life being fat. it is a hard thing to do i know i was a chunky kid and still am.
