Is there such a thing as too much computer use? Can being on the computer too long hurt your eyesight? Or do you think it is based on where you are sitting? What do you think? Are we helping or hurting ourselves here?

Sometimes I do get swollen eyes and neck pains after sitting beside my computer too long. Then I search the internet and found out I shall stand up and walk around every hour. Therefore I just drink some coffee or tea when I am sitting with my computer and then every a while I will need to find a washroom. LOL

This is a great idea. Thanks. Never thought about keeping myself hydrated too. That should kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Physically, I believe we have the potential of harming ourselves. However, I also believe that too much computer use can also give us a skewed perception on life. as an example, I sometimes role play online. It's usually some type of fantasy or sci-fi. I use it as a stress reliever and it works well. Just recently, I begin to play with a young man from New Hampshire. One day he said I love you and I assumed that he was in character because it is proper protocol to put OOC for all out of character statements and he had not done that. So, I returned the sentiment. Well, soon after I bumped into him online again and he said I love you again. I replied by stating "OOC...I am not feeling well today. I think I may be pregnant again. So no offense if I don't play today." He replied, "How can you be pregnant when we never met?" He went on further to tear into me and call me his girlfriend. I told him that I wasn't playing around right now and he said neither was he. All this time he assumed that it was not a game and that he went into that role playing room to meet people. He did not want to except that the character I play was a character at all. I apologized for the misunderstanding and explained things as I am doing now. He didn't want to listen. He said the room was not for role play (when it is clearly posted as one). any time he comes online and sees me know he calls me every name under the son. In retort, I have saved a copy of the conversation betweeen us. They all agree that this young man cannot distinguish between reality and life on the internet.
