Have you tried turning a negative situation into a positive situation?

Has anyone tried to turn a negative situation or statement into a positive one? If so, please give an example of how you turned the negative or bad situation into a positive or good situation? I did not see this posted on myLot.

I'm pretty much the ultimate optimist. When I was dealt cancer, not once, not twice, but three times I decided that it was not a curse but a gift from God to make me realize how lucky I am to have what I have and want to enjoy my life and view it as the gift it is. Losing my house and most all of my material things in a divorce, in order to keep my kids without any hassles, was a blessing. It gave me a new beginning, the ability to start a new life with the people I love most (my kids), with a whole new house and building a whole new lifestyle around us. We now appreciate all we've struggled to obtain this way. So I can answer yes, I pretty much see the silver lining in most clouds.

wow, you're a very positive person. you've somehow inspired some of us, including me, to go on with their life even though there have been many upsetting events in our life. you have experience the worse--cancer, divorce, no house--yet, you put your trust in God and prayed to give you so much strength inside and outside to cope up and face all these things. more power to you mam and God bless you. i, myself don't have a job now but i think it's for my own good too because i've had a very worst ex-boss and maybe something good will happen along the way. God bless.

When I have a bad or negative situation, I think about others that have a lot worse than I do. I thank God for my blessings, and even the trial of negativeness I will be going though. Then all is fine, and I can appreciate each day I am blessed with to the fullest.

This is very nice to hear as we should think about the people who have it worse off than we do. We should be thankful for the things we have and the people we have in our lives.

I'm often trying to turn things around in my own mind and figure out what good I can learn out of what seems like a hard lesson. Like recently when I made a few stupid mistakes when talking to people that I felt pretty shy of talking to in the first place, I said some things that turned out to be wrong, like confusing that someone's play was happening this year when it was last year, etc. Talk about embarassing, considering that I'm really sensitive and shy and I don't like being wrong and being embarrassed - but I've been trying to push past my shyness, and I figured (upon thikning about it) that I _need_ to learn to be able to say something wrong and live with it without dying of embarrassment, especially online, so that I'll be used to it by the time I'm able to talk to people in person more, so that I won't die of embarrassment when I say something silly like that, lol. I do fully believe that everything in life is a life lesson that we're meant to learn, so I always want to see the positive side in anything that I can! ^_^

I am known in my family as the peacemaker. I am the optamestic one. I can always turn something bad into something good and can always calm a disagreement. I tend to look past the mistakes people make and concentrate on the talents that they have. Thus uplifing others to a level that they deserve. I never run someone down.

That is great to hear that you are the peacemaker and are able to make bad situations into good ones. I try and do the same thing as well, though it does not always work for me. This is a wonderful attitude to have and we all should be more like you. :-)

I lost my wallet with a few thousand bahts and later my cellphone was picked in my pocket. I wanted to cry in frustration but after the mourning for my loss I realized that I was lucky to have lost the money and the cellphone and not any part of my body. Money and celphone can be replaced but if my finger is lost I can't buy a replacement.
