I don't see anything good in bigamy or polygamy for that matter. Not only because it is unlawful but just think of the headaches one has to face in his life time compared to the new found excitement one finds in having a new love. I know of some people who have 2 or 3 wives at the same time and I really pity them.

But more seriously I think its unfair to your partner. Its kind of practice that must be nmormalin some era but now its injustice. we are no morte like animals and if we claim to be civilised we chould behave in that manner too and not give in to animal instinct. I do not wish to attack any religion but if its allowed in your religion then just look up the context in which it was allowed. ALl around wars were raging and women were being widowed and sometimes with kids too. SO the preacher asked other men to take up the responsibility for them by other men but no where its mentioned tht you have to marry them too, why can' you keep her as a sister or a servant. may be because of the future of that women's kids it was made essential to marry her but that era is over so should be the pracitce of bigamy too.

Bigamy is not for me, but some religions condone this. If they wish to practice it, it is not for me to say they cannot. So long as they do not try to push their beliefs on me we should all be fine.

DUH! AFter I posted this I realized you were talking Bigamy and not poligamy ~ big difference! lol
I Think Bigamists need to be prosecuted by the law. It is wrong and not a religious thing about it.

in my opinion the polygamy is acceptable the man can married till four person but the man should be justified,also the man married the woman not for the passion but for helping to continue their life, in this case the women is not too young but should be older than the man

I think that bigamy should not be legalized in those countries where it's not a tradition at all...there is no need to and it could lead to perverse behaviours.
However, there are certain places and cultures where it's been an acceptable custom for centuries. In those cases, even if i don't like it, i think it must be respected, as they must respect the fact that bigamy is not accepted if they came to our countries....tolerance after all.

There will be deviant all along in this world but that does not establish anything. There is no point in legalising "wrong choice". Honesty and Trust are the two essential framework of this civilisation that starts with a healthy family relationship. Practices like Bigamy only spoils the spirit integrity. It only promotes a sense of distrust. So the existing law is just fine.

yes in some parts there is bigamy and in some parts polygamy.but it has a reason-the men and women ratio.where ever the ratio of women is more tere is polygamy that is men can havve more women.this is cause of the imbalance in the ration.if in a place men are more u the structure of polyandry.that is a women marries more than one man.if any community is praticing such practice it because of this simple reason-RATIO Imbalance.

I dont support Bigamy . i feel that a man should live wid one person only i.e. his wife only. It is said that a woman completes a man, then y should a man marry more than one woman?

While it can work for for some people and they make it seem like a great thing when they are interviewed, I am not sure I would functin well. It is so contrary to everything that I have been taught and experiences. In the USA it is against the law I think. Not sure who and why that came to be. Another sort of alternative way of living and so why if it doesn't hurt anyone would it be wrong?

I respect other people's opinion and stand about bigamy, but for me, i dont support such issues.
When you get married, you vowed to love your partner alone and promise to spend your days with her and her alone. Every christian is supporting the sanctity of marriage. So bigamy is a big no-no for me.

For me, bigamy should not be legal. If we got married to one person we must be loyal to him. That is why we get married to devote ourselves to one person only.
God created Adam and make Eve because God thinks Adam needs someone to be with him. God did not made two women because Adam needs two women. He made Eve only because one woman is enough for Adam.
We must learn to be contented with one person only. And we must learn to commit. I say no to bigamy!

i don't like bygamy cos usually the partner keeps one marriafge a secret..i don't think polygamy can work without the consent oif the first wife..otherwise forme relationships that are built on lies and deciept are worthless..doesn't workfor me sorry..but very good topic..
