I lost the instructions, and my son loves them, so I do not want them to die.

I loved these they were great we killed them off in the end, but they were so much fun. But, yeah basically all they are is brine shrimp. Sea monkeys are wonderful to watch as they grow and hatch you can also feed them to your fish if you have any fish. Basically the kit you buy with the sea monkeys should tell you all you need to know, but you musn't over feed them and you need to leave them a few weeks before feeding them.

Hello, I just wanted to say I bought my daughter a sea monkey kit. She loves them, we have had them for about 2 months now!! We even have Babies and expecting moms. However, we boiled water and added (chlorine remover for fish)and let it sit for a day, and thn added all the water and sea monkey's to the new tank.they are now in a 1/2 gallon tank. We only filled it about half way. I would like to know how to get the "food" from another source though. We have all white males with faical hair and our females are a light pink color. The reason we changed tanks was they were not living. We have added a rock from our old fish tank as well, they love it. For air we use a straw and vblow in the tank a few times a day. I have just learned that they like light. We will put them close to a loght all night. I think this will help grow algae that we is the food. We hope to get more sea monke's for x-mas and the tank with the green neon light. From what we have found it will make our friends glow!! If anyone has some helpful tips on how to extend the life please let us know. also, if anyone knows another food source that would be great as well. I hope this is helpful to your family. Any suggestions you may have are welcomed. Thank you again for taking the time to read this.

Wow,this discussion brings back some fond childhood memories for me. I remember my parents getting me a Sea Monkeys kit as a birthday present. Back then, they didn't have all of the fancy growth formulas so they didn't grow to the publicized 3/4 inch as they do now....or at least mine didn't. As for your questions, Willowlady pretty much sums it up in her very thorough reply. The only thing that I would emphasize is not to change the water out without the proper Sea Monkey water conditioner as they are very sensitive to the amount of salt and chemical saturation in their environment. Have fun with them and thanks again for rekindling some nice memories.
