To change or not - a question for men.

Each woman has a different opinion on this, but I'd like the male perspective - if you are going to (or if you have) married, would you prefer your spouse to adopt your last name? Why or why not? Also, even if you respect her decision to keep her own last name, would it offend or bother you if she did?

Yes, it's nice for a family to all have the same name.

I honestly believe taht women should adopt the family name of their husband. Well if they still like to have their family name appear, then they could use this format: First + Their Family Name- Family Name of Her Husband In that way he shows respect, love and trust to her husband, she accepts and they share a common family name and I believe taht marriage is sharing!

its only a name! it should make mo difference! any male who says the female has to change her name is a dominatrix and should be avoided at all costs

Thanks for the response. It is a traditional thing, at least in American (I'm not sure about most other countries)...I believe that it signified that the woman went from being the father's responsibility to being that of her husband. It's interesting...once again, thanks.

I would be proud if she chose my last name, not because she chooses to become lower than I am or my possesion 'Which was the age old reason why women used to get their husband's last name" but because she is now a part of who I am. And I am a part of her, I think having your husband's last name is a shinning symbol of your union and should be kept as a practice amongst women yet keeping your own name is also good but I think it all depends on her and his prespective. Love is what matters not the name without it the marriage is nothing but lies said infront of GOD and an empty contract.
