Is there a movie that scared the crap out of you as a young kid?

For me it was Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. I was only about 3 years old and I begged to stay up to watch it. Finally giving in after telling me a million times that I would be scared my parents relented. I was so scared I could have pooped my pants! LOL To this day I HATE birds and if I see them congregate I could die!

Stephen King's "It" used to scare the bejeebers out of me when I was a little kid. Every time I used the restroom I would look down the sink first. Every time I passed a gutter, I would look down at my feet. Geez.. it's making me eerie talking about it even now!

the one I remember is the Tv version of Salems Lot, especially when the young boy is floating outside his brothers window.....creepy. A brilliantly made atmospheric film.

I turned the movie off at that point. Once I saw the boy floating outside the hospital window that was it. Too much for me. Off it went and I curled up on the couch afraid to move.

Nice discussion. Alfred hitchcock's movies were really scaring. But the one that scared me most, when I was a kid, was The Shining, by Stanley Kubrick. Really scared me. Other was Rosemary's Baby (1968) by Roman Polanski.

Well the first scary movie I really remember seeing that scared me was Friday the 13th. I was up most of the night with it afterwards. It might not have been so bad but that summer I went to camp. Let me tell you it came back real fast even though it had been a few months. Amazing how those things stick with you. The only other one as a pre-teen that scared me was The Changeling. That one really got to me. I have it now and it can still give me goosebumps. I enjoy it everytime but it does make me look twice at wheelchairs especially when I am alone.

my mom took my brother, sister and I to go see jaws in 3D. OMG that was soooooo scarey, i was about like 5 or 6, but to be wearing those 3D glasses and to see this great white shark coming right at you with it sharp teeth chopping at ur face, that would scare anyone. i took the glasses off and watched the blurry movie the rest of the time.

Oh I've heard of that Alfred Hitchcock movie but I've never seen it. I think the first horror movie I ever saw was when I was sixteen. We went to the theatres to see Friday the 13th in 3D. I was so scared that I have never gone to see a horror flick since. Just not my type of movie. Would much rather a romantic comedy.

For me it wasn't a movie, but Twilight Zone. I was always scared when they came on every week when I was little. I use to hide under my blanket when the scary parts came. There was one in particular that scared me. A spaceship landed in this old ladies attic and through most of the show she was fighting them off. After killing most of them, they retreated back to their spaceship and took off. As you saw the ship leave, it showed the side of the ship. It was an American flag! Who was the alien? . your friend

They had a Twilight Zone marathon for New Years Eve and New Years day on the Sci-fi channel. I was in heaven. Seriously cuddled in my bed most of both days and nights and watched it nonstop! LOL

The Blob, I think I was about 6 years old the first time I saw it, I stuffed towels under my bedroom door for months. I also closed the curtains on the windows very tight and the same for the closet. I was one scared puppy. Friday night where i was raised was fright night on TV, it is funny, that is the only movie that really scared me. Now as an adult there are others - but we won't go there.

Another poster mentioned this, but I would absolutely go with "The Shining". Kubricks filming style is just so creepy. I mean he can even make a kid riding a big wheel big on carpet, then floor, carpet, floor, carpet floor.....even now something about it really creeps me out. Plus the whole film just looks so washedout and sickly. Everything about it uncomfortable. Jack Nickleson just has such an aura of evil! Those two twin girls who flash on the screen also really freaked me out . I used to be afarid I would wake up and find them standing in my room!

Yes, it was that movie called Childsplay with that horrible Chucky doll in it. I used to have really bad nightmares after watching that film and for some reason i hated to look in the full length mirror on the outsdie of the wardrobe in my bedroom becuasee i had an irrational fear that if i looked into it i'd see Chuckie and he'd come and get me. I have sicne watched the later ones and i have to say although they're a bit gory they didn't scare me half as much! Oh, and i can look into mirror these days with only the worry of how bad my hair/make-up etc looks, lol!

Demons - this is a pic i found..among the few..of Demons..
YESS!! LOL!! Theer was one movie only that scaredme so bad i had nightmares for years after!! I was 13 yrs old and at a sleep over with a bunch of us girls, and someone rented DEMONS..its about Two girls that attend a special screening of a horror movie in an isolated theater. The film is so involved that it takes possession of the viewers and transforms them into zombie demons who attack other theater goers. The demons were so damn scary that i was sick i was so scared..but i didint want anyone to make fun of me..so i watched the whole thing..i didnt sllep that night..and kept my night light on or a month..I NEVER USED A NIGHT LIGHT TILL THEN!! LOL!! wel of course i grew out of it..but it was the scariest i had ever seen back then..and now..im on Netflix..i think i will rent it againa nd see why it scad me so much..i havent watch it since lol..

I'm a huge baby about scary movies... even today. I can't watch them. The first movie that really scared me was also The Wizard of Oz, as another person mentioned LOL Those dang flying monkeys and the Wicked Witch. I was really young and holy smokes... I guess I didn't expect it or something but I found it frightening. Then, in about Grade 7, I decided to be brave and go see the first "Halloween" movie with my friends. Yeah. Um. I saw the inside of my jacket all night LOL I decided then and there that horror films (even the campy kind) were just not for me!

As I write this I can't really say which movie in particular scared the bejeezus out of me...I just remember that when I was a kid I'd watch a spooky movie and put my hand up to my eyes and peek through fingers! I thought that as long as I did that nothing would happen to me; the bogey man couldn't get to me...lol
