so many times a day they call many days different people from the same company call. after how many calls do you stop being polite? or do you just continue to stay calm and say no thank you,or have you added your number to the national do not call list? what works for you?

Well, I have call display and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer. If the call is legit the person leaves a message and I call back. Telemarketers usually do not leave a message. If by chance I answer the call in another room where I don't have call display, I can usually tell whether or not it is a telemarketer call, because their computer has dialed my number and there is a slight delay before a human picks it up. I hang up before the human comes on the line.
If by chance a telemarketer gets a hold of me I let them finish their talk and then say, thank you very much I am not interested, please don't call again and hang up before they can get in another word.
You live in the USA. There is a place where you can register that you don't want telemarketer calls. I read about it but don't recall the website or telephone number.

I am always polite. I try to tell them right away I'm not interested. If I don't get a chance because they are talking so fast, I let them talk and then tell them no thank you. If they continue to try to sell me something, I tell them no thank you again. If, for a third time they go into a sales pitch, I'll say, I'm hanging up now. I hardly ever just out and out hang up on them, unless they are blatantly rude.
I am on the do not call list, but some of them still call, which is against the law. I always tell them to remove my number from their list, because they are legally bound to do that in the U.S. if you ask them too.

I have caller ID so if I do not recognize the number I don't answer it. If I should pick up and it's a telemarketer I am polite but I tell them I am not interested then ask to speak with a supervisor at that point I ask to be removed from their call list and advise if I continue to receive calls after this I will pursue legal action and hang up. This seems to have cut way down on the calls.
