haven't anyone noticed that once a cat is at old age and is about to die of old age, your pet will simply disappear and would never come back.

well it is not taht they disappear. they simply die some where . like either they die on road , or they die in our neighbourhood. but to tell the truth , it happened to my cat too. it became old and after one fine day ..it never came back.

It's pretty common for cats to hide or disappear when they are either seriously hurt or are about to die; it's instinct for them. They will also tend to hid out when they are sick and will do so until they are better.

My 2 dogs that I had to put down due to incurable illness/old age didn't wander off to die like I so feared. Instead, they told me when they were ready to go and I was with them at the vets when they left me for a better place. I have a 10yr. old cat now that tested positive for heartworms and the vet said it's not treatable in cats like it is in dogs so now he stays inside and I hope he lets me know when it's his time to go be with my 2 dogs and not just go off and die somewhere. I prefer to be with them when they go. I love them too much to not be there for them.

they go somewhere, somewhere quiet and far from their home. Under a tree or near a river.
