I was taught how to cook by my Grandmother. She cooked everything from scratch. I cook just the same as her.She canned vegetables out of her garden. How many of you still do the same? I know it is a dring thing. Do you make pies from scratch? Do you make biscuits, suppers, etc...

About 95% of my baking is from scratch - bread, biscuits, rolls, cakes, cookies, etc. I have yet been able to make pie crusts though (G'ma was the master, too much pressure). As for general cooking, I don't rely on prepackaged foods very often at all. Maybe keep a few on hand as backups for those nights when to many activites going on with the kids to have time to cook a big meal, but that's it. I would love to have a real vegetable garden one of these years, but for now I do have family that provides me with apples and tomatoes so I do can alot of applesauce, salsa and diced tomatoes. I also can an onion and pepper relish.

I make a lot of things from scratch... I make pies, cookies and other desserts a lot. But I am guilty of using jar tomato sauces and biscuit mixes.... I have never canned anything... but I have made strawberry freezer jam. It was delicious!

I do most of my cooking from scratch. It's more work but so much healthier and better tasting.

i also do most of my cooking from scratch... i learned cooking from ym mom and she used to turned eevry simple thing into good yummy stuff. we used to grind spices at home, also cut all the vegetables just after grocerry and freeze them in the freezer to always handy. make jams and sauces to handy to cook almost any thing at last hour. i learned to save time form my mom... she is the best.

I do all my cooking and baking from scratch. I want to know what went into what I am eating. This way, I have control of what I eat. Besides it feels good when you create something tasty. I will not buy a pie crust. I will always make my own.

I certainly do..... I have my own vegetable garden and lots of different fruit trees and use fresh veggies and fruit all the time. Fresh veggies and fruit certainly makes the food taste better than shop bought cans or jars that have very limited amounts of real ingredients and are chocked with preservatives. Fowlers Vacolla is a house hold name here in my home, I do alot of food preserving, make my own sauces and am always on the look out for recipe's which contain basic ingredients but care copycats of famous brands like at the moment Im adjusting some recipes I found to make my own Instant Pudding mix. You name it, I make it all from scratch here in my home. Right down to having my own livestock which get turned into sauceages and jerky.

I make most of my food from scratch, I also believe in semi-homemade, meaning, mixing comercial product and with something that is made from scratch.
