What is your favorite advertising slogan of all time...and why?! I supose my has to be an old Ritz cracker ad that said, "Everything sits good on a Ritz." I am crazy (as everyone knows) and I use that line so often in tense situations. Things will be going bad and I'll just pop up and say, "Remember everybody that everything sits good on a Ritz." The sheer idiocy of the comment and the fact that it has nothing to do with the situaion usually diffuses even the roughest of situations!

Its not old but I like the Quizno's commercials. Usually when we are sitting around with a bunch of friends and one of them "burns" another with a joke or a comment there is always one of us that looks at that one and say "MMMMM TOASTY" LMAO I know we are weird but we get a kick out of it. The other one that we talk about alot is the Slim Jim Commercial "OOOH SANO INTO A SLIM JIM" LOL I have alot of things we take out of commercials. One day my husband looked at me and asked me what I was thinking I promptly replied.... "I'm thinking Arby's" LOL Made him laugh!!

yes, that is the kind of stuff I do!! My students think I am crazy. But the way I see it, it eases the tension and just maybe they won't be so nervous around me and can learn better!

Before Nike became popular using the slogan "Just Do It," I believe they used "There is No Finish Line." I really liked this slogan for it implies that there's no reason to settle. You can always get better.

A recent one I like is 'Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz' with Janice Joplin (I think) singing. So incongruous, the raunchy, earthy voice and a smart car that may never have her singing on its in-car entertainment system! One I use to good effect is based on all the medical soaps. When something breaks and a mass of people stand round looking at it, I say 'Let me through. Trust me, I'm a builder'. Another conversation stopper is when something wooden breaks or a woodworking tool needs fixing, I say 'Trust me. I'm an Irish brain surgeon' but you need to be careful in choosing the company when you say it! haha

For me it's the old alka seltzer comercial. A man is sitting on the edge of his bed with a rather ill look on his face and he says "I can't believe I ate the WHOLE thing". The voice over goes into his schpeel about Alka Seltzer and then comes back to the guy who now is smiling and says "the WHOLE thing". I still say this alot when someone mentions being full or I've overetaten...lol

I still love "got Milk". It's a long lasting slogan. I love the way they get all different celebrities to pose with the white mustache. I also like "I wanna be like Mike". It is catchy and you can still hear people, now and again singing the jingle. Ofcourse my all time favorite, is "Where's the Beef?". These are all very old and maybe depending on your age, you have never heard of them but those are my favorite.

My favorite phrase would have to be 'Calgon...take me away!' Whenever I'm having a rough day I find myself saying this and laughing. Calgon's taken me 'away' so many times that I don't know where I am anymore, lol.

HAHAHA!! Oh yes. I remember muttering that to myself when I was home alone with all my children. The middle of the day when everyone's blood sugar was low and we were all cranky, I muttered that many a time!

LOL, that's great. I bet it does breath new life into a conversation. I can't think of one that has had a direct impact on my life. I keep thinking..."plop, plop, fizz, fizz...oh what a relief it is...fast, fast, fast." The old one from Alka-Seltzer. It kind of motivates me in a weird sort of way. The one I use in tense situations is a movie quote from "Mary Poppins". I will just pop off a good old, "supercalafragalisticexpialidocious". Gets em' every time.

I used to love the donut guy from Dunkin Donuts. "Got to make the donuts." He was priceless. I also loved the "Where's the Beef?" lady. What about the "I've fallen and I can't get up." lady? Ok, she was annoying.

Oh my husband was so bad with the little lady who said, "I've fallen and I can't get up." He would often be in a bad mood and mutter, "then just lay there and be quiet." I had to laugh because it was so out of character for him...he is a very gentle and kind man!

Well I have two that come right to mind with this after the alka seltzer that I saw a few post on :) Those are Faygo and Dr. Pepper. Both of them the songs will get in my head. Of course the one commercial of Faygo's comes to mind, they had 2 actually but the one was short. "Which way did he go, which way did he go, he went for Faygoooo." The song commercial is far better with the song and it was filmed on Bablo Island up in Michigan. Comic books and rubber bands Climb into the tree top Falling down and holding hands Tricycles and Redpop Pony rides and Sunday nights Roller skates and snowball fights Climbin' through the window Remember when you were a kid? Well, part of you still is And that's why we make Faygo Faygo remembers Flying kites and funny shoes Easter eggs with speckles ABCs and counting by twos Washing off the freckles Kissing a hurt to make it stop Startin' school in September So many things you almost forgot Tryin' to remember Remember when you were a kid? Well, part of you still is And that's why we make Faygo Faygo remembers It really sticks into your head. Then you have the Dr. Pepper song: I'm a pepper, she's a pepper, he's a pepper wouldn't you like to be a pepper too? Drink Dr. Pepper, be a pepper drink dr. Pepper. Ok now that I have both in my head I'll stop but those are ones that really come to mind when I think of slogans.

"Everything's better with Blue Bonnet on it!" On commercials, this was so catchy! Another one is, "Never had it, never will." With that catchy laugh, 7-up.

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.... Yes, I think it was the Coke commercial, from Christmas many years back. And I used to like the Parkay commercials..where when the lid was opened..it would say 'Butter' And who can forget 'Where's the Beef?' and 'I can't believe I ate the WHOLE thing!.

I use to love the Oscar Mayer songs from the 70's and 80's. Also, Fritos had that whole "Crunch" campaign where they would have commercials of people seeing who could crunch the loudest. It started many crunching wars between my older brother and I back in the old days. :) LOVED the McDonald's jingle: Big Mac, Filet-a-fish Quarter Pounder, French Fries Icy Coke, Thick Shakes Sundaes and Apple Pies! I know there were alot more but I can't think of them right now.
