How does Sylar do it?

I know that every hero who has faced an untimely fate with Sylar has had their brains removed or something to that effect. My question is how does he then use that material to gain their powers?

This is a really great question, and my husband and I have been debating it like mad lately. I just can't seem to figure it out, how he would absorb the dna into his own body. It doesn't seem like eating it would do much, but it's hard to tell. I have a feeling he's going to wind up overdoing it at some point, and wind up being his own downfall.

So what do you think he does? How would he consume the dna/power? I agree that he is going to overdo it. Hopefully Mohinder will figure out what's going on soon.

But if the whole watch repair thing is true, would he have to open his brain to make adjustments???? Just asking...but I think he must have to eat the brains.

I've thought that he ate their brains as well from the very beginning. But lately I'm not so sure. I don't remember seeing the brain being completely gone from either Zane or the ultra-hearing woman. Someone one a different forum suggested that maybe it's like when he repaired watches, that somehow he cuts open their skulls to see their brains and what exactly makes it "tick" so to speak in order to adjust his own. Other than that, I have no clue. The whole brain eating thing really rocks if that's true.

I don't see how he could absorb them any other way than eating them which is completely disgusting. Unless he just absorbs the power mentally and disposes of the brain which doesn't seem likely. It does seem though that he needs a little time to adjust although not as much as Peter does. I don't know whether thats a good or bad thing. I just hate it when he's on the screen and end up yelling Don't you know its Sylar at the tv. :)

I know! The last episode when Mohinder (sp) told Sylar he was going to call the police and Sylar then persuaded him not to I kept saying, "Get a clue man. Think about how he's reacting. Somethings not right! Get out of there." I assumed that he would have to eat the brain, but like you said, that is just too disgusting.

I am also asking the same question. I guess he take the brain out and find out which part makes the other special and he would just suck the power. Oh Boy! I really have no idea. I am thinking soon, it will be revealed on the show as to "how" sylar do it but for now, its part of the puzzle. Made the show more interesting. I love that show. So addicting. Made me wish I have powers too..hahaha. But then like Hero Nakamura said, "you dont have to have powers to be a hero" which is actually true.

I agree on all points. I really liked when Hiro said that. I like Ando (sp). It is a very addictive show and I look forward to watching it.

I think he just analyzes their minds and then adjusts his own brain accordingly

Dammit, wonder grrrl came first and said exactly what I was gonna say=P I don't think he eats the brain at all, and I think the watch analogy is perfect. It also fits the subtle hint given in the showm that whenever Sylar is near a super powered being a faint clock ticking can be heard in the background. I think he just analyzes the interior of the brain and understands how to modify his own (or rather his body does it by itself)

Almost, if it wasn't for one detail: he only acquired the powers of telekinesis *after* he killed his first victim. In the end, it doesn't make much sense to try to find physically consistent ways for him to do what he does... this is a fantastic show. There are people flying around and talking to computers, for crying out loud. =) They might just as well say it's magic, just like Peter's power.

I was trying to figure out how he could just fix his own brain and then I remembered that he is telekenetic. He could just "will" his self to change, right? Does anyone else agree with that theory?

I know, I know. If you haven't figured out I'm the type of person who likes to OVERANALYZE eveything. :) I'm sure there are other people like me, who wonder things to no end like I do.

He eats their brains! Gross, I know. It is meant to be assumed, they are not showing it so that it does not give a zombie impression. Wonder if he at least cooks them...
