It's human nature to compare ourselves to others. Most of the time our perception of happiness depends upon how we stand compare to others. What are your views? How, do you think, can we overcome this.

i think part of it is insecurity. sometimes, we have our own insecurities and we just can't help but compare our ourselves to others because there's a certain emptiness that we have while other people is fulfilled. i dunno exactly but that's my opinion.

It is in our human nature that we are not sometimes satisfied by what we have. If we are better than others, it makes us feel good about ourselves. If others are better than us, we feel something needs to be done.

As you have said it's human nature. And honestly, I think we can only know how we are doing if we compare ourselves with others. I mean can you say you are rich if you don't compare yourself with poor people? Can you say you are good if you don't see other people not doing as good as you do? I don't think so.
