I absolutely Love oatmeal raisin cookies! I love the batter even raw it is so good. Yet for the longest time I never tried hot oatmeal. Today, I finally decided to give it a try and the verdict is - it's gross. It's mushy, it's dull, it doesn't taste anything like the Apple Cinammon flavor states. I just don't get it. How can I love Oatmeal Cookies but hate Oatmeal???

Well that makes two of us! I love oatmeal cookies too but I have never liked oatmeal. I think I hate the consistency as much as the flavor. You are right, it is dull! All three of my girls all loved oatmeal. It was really strange cause my hubby hates it too. Oh well, at least it was something healthy and not junk!

It is strange that they liked it. I agree, the flavor isn't that great, besides the fact that it's mushy! I probably wouldn't even serve it to my kids since I hate it and I'm pretty sure my fiance doesn't like it anyway.

Bleh, plain oatmal. What you need to do is check out Quaker flavored oatmeal. They have some awsome flavors to choose from. It does help to sprinkle brown sugar or cane sugar on it instead of regular sugar. When I'm not doing the low carb thing I make oatmeal then add milk to it .. stir it up then add sugar to the top of it. The heat from the oatmeal and the moisture of the milk makes the sugar hard so it gets crunchy. What brands of flavored oatmeal have you tried? Sometimes the brand really makes a difference. There are also oatmeal cups - like the Cup O Noodles - only it has oatmeal in it and they are really good, easy to make and no dishes to wash!

It was a Quaker flavored one, apple cinammon I believe. I liked the apples! but that was about it, I just can't stand the mushyness I think. Thanks for the suggestions, but it just seems that oatmeal isn't for me.

I love oatmeal porridge. My mother used to make it for us for breakfast through school terms as she said it fortified you and make you learn better. The best porridge is made with only a little water, so that it comes out fairly thick, and then you add milk and sugar to it before you eat it.

I don't like any cooked cereal including hot oatmeal. Everyone else in my family seems to like some type of hot cereal...but not me! I, too, love oatmeal raisin cookies as well as just plain oatmeal cookies. Just hot, out of the even....it is heaven on earth! yum, yum!

At least I'm not the only one :) I was asking a coworker about this today and she thinks I don't like it because it's mushy, whereas real oatmeal cookies are usually crunchy. That could be the reason it just doesn't appeal to me!
