Need to stop shopping so much!

I think I honestly have an addiction to shopping and need to stop. I tell myself don't buy it! You don't need it! etc... but its like I can't stop myself from doing it. I pay for everything in cash so it's not really a debt issue, theres just other things I'd like to do with the money I work for. It seems I'm just all about the immediate gratification. Anyone one have any good ideas to stop myself? Is there anything you tell yourself that gets you to not make those purchases? I know I can't go cold turkey, but man its so much harder to slow down or stop then I would have ever believed. If there are any websites that focus on this issue I'd really appreciate any links..Thanks all.

I had this problem before. I was so addicted to shopping that I would use up my entire salary just buying clothes and shoes. I was able to solve my problem when I made my sister keep my money and my credit/ATM cards. She's very much concerned about my spending and she's so good at keeping money. Even if I begged her to give me some of my money, she wouldn't! Thus, I didn't have much money when I went out, and thence not much spending! If you know someone who could keep your money for you (a stringent one, and of course someone you could trust), this could work for you, too!

I am the same myself, but with me it is a debt issue and even though im in debt i cant stop if i do not go out and buy some thing after just one day i am so moody and can not help it some times my partner comes home from work and because i am so moody he will send me out to buy some thing thats how bad it gets so if you can try your hardest to stop cause it doesn't get better it gets harder

do not stop yourself from shopping but lessen it is okey, if you do shop 4 times or5 times a month then do it by 2 or three.
there no wrong in shopping but be sure you need all you buy.
there are things that is not important to us, we buy them as luxury.
so for me just buy thigns that is necessary...
