A worm farm or bin is basically a plastic or wooden box or bucket of some kind with ventilation holes on sides and top and drainage holes or a spigot on the bottom.

It appears to me that worm farming is common in your country. I've been wondering though what are the worms for if so many will be propagated through the means you have presented. There are some persons who are also propagating worms in my country, they say that it is good source of protein. I wonder if it is the same reason as this one? I remember now, that those who are into breeding fishes also propagate worms.

Its not common here in indonesia. Just like anybody think that worm is a digusting, gross, etc kind of creature. But I've heard that someone made a fortune from exporting worm casting. I just do it to fertilize my plant with organic, pure, cheap fertilizer. It is also good for fish food

Thanx, it is easy to build. You can use just about anything and customize it. To create a comfortable home for the worms :D

Wow 4 year old comments! Time for me to shake the discussion up!! Great discussion, Lots of good info, Glad to see other people out there doing things! Also, good to know I'm not the only one googling worm bin stuff!! I first read about vermicomposting on Homesteadearth.com, Chris had a really good write up, basically a BIO for getting started with worms, Then googling I found Uncle Jim's Worm Farm. Makes me want to put my order in like yesterday! Thanks for the great discussion!!
