What's the difference......Today's....Top & Hot discussion

I'm not able to understand what's the difference between " Today's top discussion " & "Todays hot topics" Some r common in both...why these two seperate categories?

Todays top discussion are those discussions which have good content in it,Hot discussions are those which are whacky and makes us to think more.Hot ones are more stricking.

not sure about that but someone had really copied your discussion about doctors wearing green and made it to the top discussions yesterday.
