Is this really the news?

I find it truly disturbing when I watch the news and in between a story on 2 murdered teenage girls and a missing man is a story of Britney Spears shaving her head. Who cares? Is that really news? What does that say about our society when we put celebrities above all else?

I agree and because of all this attention to every detail of celebrities lives people start idolising them and thats sad because that means youngsters are idolising people with immoral lives(obviously not all are extremely bad but most).People these days become role models not because of character but because they in the press, where along the line did societies thinking shift in that manner i do not know, but i want to say that parents out there need to try bring there children up in such a way that they no better to judge somone by character which is discovered by what they do and not what people say. There are many people who are extremely good at what they do but they aren't celebrities simply because it's not publisiced.

Maybe its to lighten the mood??? I'm interested in celebrities I'll admit that. But honestly, leave them alone, stop stalking them and reporting whenever they do something nuts. I fell bad for Britney, I bet she's depressed and has some PPD issues as well. Leave the girl alone. I bet there's a few other women who have had issues and shaved their head, normal every day women. Did their story get on the news? No. Maybe it should as well. Why don't they do stories about REAL people and the issues that REAL people face instead of mocking celebs when they have the same issues as we all do.

Honestly i get really annoyed with all this hollywood star nonsense. I personally don't give damn about Britney and her shaved head. There are worse things happening in the world. I rather hear more uplifting stories about people who have given their life to the betterment of the world. It is a shame that people spend so much time gossiping about the stars and their actions.

i kinda think like that also when they make useless news about celebrities. I go like, "as if i care", "who cares?", "whatever.." blah blah. but i guess we cant blame the media coz there are lots of people who cares about news like that, and they are the fans of these celebrities. they do care what happens on their idols, what's new with them, even if its bad or good... like me, i follow the latest update of some case or murder or anything like that.. and its the media's responsibility to let the public know.

I think that celebrities are on such a pedastal because we as people are so curious and so interested in everyone else that when given a person to look in on, i.e. a celebrity, we take full advantage of that person putting themself in the limelight. We look up to these people, or look down upon them for a complete lack of anything better to do.

Neither is who or where Anna Nichole Smith is buried. I would Like to see some real news like how somw of the Iraqie people are greatful for our being over there and just haveing to hear it from the soldiers comeing home with this kind of news.

I have to admit I'm now starting to change the channel everytime she comes on now. It's gottn way out of hand. Going to a rehad is the best thing she could have ever done. It gives her and everybody else a chance to simmer down. Lloyd
