using a mobile while driving

This always irks me, people using their mobile while driving. To me, this is just a pure case of recklessness, or even stupidity. Even theres a law prohibiting it, I still see lots doing it on the road. I dont know what it will take to make them stop. If it a matter of life and death, stop on the side of the road and do it there. Just dont forget to use your hazard lights. What do you think of this? Are you one of them?

frens,thank you for this discussion. i feel like slapping a person driving vehicle speaking. i am at Isn't it true that we all carry our mobile phones with hundreds of names/numbers stored in its memory but yet nobody, other than ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones? Let us for a moment create a scenario wherein (God forbid) We are involved in an accident or had a heart attack and the people attending us get hold of our mobile phone but don't' know which number to call to inform our family members. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers stored under the name ICE (In case of Emergency) in our mobile phones. Read below for more details..... . Subject: Fwd: " ICE" Campaign Recently, the concept of "ICE" is catching up quickly. It is simple, an important method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or person who should be contacted at during emergency as "ICE" (meaning In Case of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. Following a disaster in London , the East Anglican Ambulance Service has launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE". Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before every body will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today! Please forward to your all nearest and dearest. taching some information about mobiles.please forwrd to your family and friends.

I do agree that using your mobile phone while driving is extremely dangerous, especially when using it for sending text messages, and yes it is against the law to do such a thing. a lot of motor vehicle accidents have been reported due to inappropriate use of these devices while driving. surely an SOP in driving is never look away to where you are driving.

I absolutely HATE people who talk on their phones while driving. We've had so many near misses because of sh!t for brains drivers who don't look where they're going because they're too busy listening to how darling daughters beauty pageant went. I was stuck in rush hour traffic with my partner one day just a few weeks back. A woman in the car at the side of us was talking away on her cell phone. In her other hand she was text messaging someone on her blackberry. I was tempted to roll my window down and yell "LOOK OUT!" just to bring her attention back to the road. Some people have no idea how dangerous they are when they're talking on their phone whilst driving. And they wonder why the fines and consequences are so heavy when they get caught.

I feel passionately about this topic too. Thank you for bringing it up. At the first, when I had a cell phone for a year, I tried to answer calls while driving, and found it Terribly Distracting. Being that I am a new city driver, only used to country roads, and also, because I get distracted when talking, even when talking to a passenger, I decided to make a policy of not picking it up if it rang when I was driving, but to find a place to pull off. I don't want to play games with someone's life, my life, or any of the vehicles involved. Driving errors can take just a split second - the split second I was distracted. To reinforce my decision, I put on my voice mail message that I would not pick up if I was driving or working. After a year of the cell phone (the length of the contract), I found that the times people needed to contact me by cell were the exact times I needed not to be disturbed (grocery shopping, working, driving, etc.). Chances are if one needed to get a hold of me by cell phone then I didn't want to be disturbed anyway. Between that and the cost, it was time to get rid of it. I am happily unconnected, and continue to feel amazement when I see people driving talking on the cell, and usually mutter to my passenger, "People on their cell phones!!"

i am totally against using the mobile while driving.it is not that the person is risking his own life but he also risking the life of others.the law should place strict laws on the this.damage can be done on a large scale due to the carelessness of the driver if he tends to get emotional while speaking on the mobile.this act should be completely avoided or the person needs to pull up by the side,speak and then proceed.

It is really dangerous to use our mobile phones while driving. While driving our eyes should be on the road and not on our mobile phones. Mobiles phones can wait. A lot of accidents occur because people use their mobile phones while driving. It is prohibited by the law but there are people who still use mobile phones while driving. People know that it is dangerous but they try to take the risk or become ignorant.

In India it is a real matter for concirn. People who do this are aware that it is against the law and that it is too risky and dangerous. Still they cannot avoid doing that. In my place in Kerala it is common to find people use their mobile phones while riding motor cycles. The police should control this in a strict and stern manner. Some things are to be handled in a rough way.

I could certainly relate to you. My husband is the one driving while answering calls or text messages. I will always give him a tongue lashing because IT IS DANGEROUS. At times, he will stop but at the middle of the road. This irked me all the more.

This is very dangerous because someone can easily lose control and hit or fall into a ditch when he/she is not looking well.It should be used carefully espeacially when driving.If a call should peharps come in,the person on the steering should either slow down or park by the road side to receive his calls.I think thats my advice on this.

i agree with you. i usually find a alert in the car,"Don't chart with the driver", but many times, i find the same instance that the driver talk to others with his mobile phone. it is abnormal. the driver games with the passager's life. i think the goverment must take some efforts. or we can produce some more securer product for the driver.

its one of the most causes of road accidents, authorities have been telling drivers not to do it, but others just dont get the point. They still text and drive. they are not only hurting themselves but also hurting other people.
