I have a friend , who is very dear to me, but who despises her parents , because they were very strict when she was young she has stopped talking to them, I made her understand that my parents were also very strict , but now I understand that whatever they did was for our betterment, so we shouldnt b resentful but ,she is nt ready to understand, ... her parents come to me and tell me to make her understand...I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO????

The only thing you can do is continue to make her understand the importance of the education. You can understand the chooses of your parents only when you grow up and when you become a parent too.

rightly said..... we value our parents hardships only when we too become parents....

My parents were strict to a degree and sometimes growing up, I would hate the fact they said "NO"..lol, however with time as I got older I come to realize that as you even said it was to better us for our future...As to your friend, unfortunetly, if she is not willing to have a open mind and "WANT" to understand and try to mend and communicate with her parents, I don't think you can help her..She has to be willing to listen and understand first before someone else try to make her understand...Good Luck with your friend

thanks for the suggestion......yes, when we are kids we really cant understand why our parents impose so many restriction but... as we grow old we understand their importance....but then there are people who dnt understand their value even when they grow.....but still we should still help them to understand.....

My parents were relly strict also. Though I don't agree with some of the things they did to this day, I like you try to see that they were only tryin to do what's best. I realized I had to let smethings go and that everybody makes mistakes. I'm not a perfect parent either and I'm sure when my daughter had kids of her own she'll do thingsdifferently than I did. You can't "make" someone understand hings but maybe over time sh'll think differently.
