Pregnant? Is this possible?

I have 3 beautiful kids, all concieved around the end of February, beginning of March. After I had baby #3 in 2005 I decided I wanted a tubal ligation for Xmas. I had it done and the big family joke was no more November babies. Even my grandma said she was relieved because all her great grandkids (she has 5 total) were born in November and it's a drain on her wallet.LOL So I was looking at the calendar yesterday and it dawned on me that I am late. And usually you could set a clock by my cycle. I said something to my hubby, he turned white and almost passed out, after all it is that time of the year for us. He just kept mumbling "but you got your tubes tied". I've heard of woman getting pregnant after a tubal, but didn't think it was that common. But then again I got preg with all 3 kids when I was on the pill. Have you heard of this happening? Is it common? I guess I better put a test on the grocery list this week...

Tubals are known to fail. I am a product of one. My mom had a tubal yet here I am. She was fit to be tied according to her. I just had mine reversed. I can't wait to get pregnant. Good luck hopefully it is something else since this is not what you really want. But remember everything happens for a reason. As my mom says if it wasn't for me she would have nobody to help her out now that she is older. So in the end it works out.

Believe it or not I was in the same shoes when I had my 4th the worries I went though I thought would kill me. But it actaully worked out great. The two younger ones are always hanging around together and the older ones have a strong bond and helped me with the baby. The first year is hard because babies require extra stuff. But after that it is smooth sailing atleast till college. You will be ok either way I am sure. Just one more person for you to love.

I suggest putting a test on your grocery list this week. Anything is possible, and i know that you don't plan on being pregnant, but sometimes life seems to suprise us all. But another reason that you maybe late for your period, is stress, or if anything else stressful, or even exciting has seemed to happen in the past week or so. That seems to make our periods a few days late.

unfortuantely I'm not sure how common it is but I have heard of it happening before.. I really dont know what to say.. Isn't it funny but how its your time of year but too.. do you feel pregnant? being a mum of 5 you should know that feeling... well I'm not sure if its a bad or good thing in your eyes but apart of me can not stop smiling while reading your discussion.. and your right I think a test on the grocery list isn't a bad idea.. for some reason I get this feeling from just reading your discussion that you are a wonderful mother and your children have a very loving family to support them.. To be honest I think you must be an incredible women to handle 5 kids so 1 more will only make you stronger.. I only have 2 and I'm stuffed every moment of the day so congrats to you on being so strong and staying sane with all that noise... I look forward to hearing the result of your test, please be sure to fill us in once you know.. Have a wonderful day .. :)

I only have 3 kids, my grandma has 5 November great grandkids. And actually I do have the symptoms, I'm not eating like I usually do and with my last two I went through that, lost 15 lbs the first 3 months, gained it all back 3 fold, but maybe I am just psyching myself out. Thank you for your response. Have a great day also!

It is possible, but it is also uncommon and very unlikely. How late are you? There is likely to be a logical explanation for being late. Maybe you counted the days wrong... Are you under a lot of stress? That can also affect your cycle. Maybe subconsciously you are stressing about this being the time of year when you get pregnant. The mind-body connection is very real and very strong. It's amazing what our emotions and thoughts can do to our bodies. I agree, maybe you should pick up a test this week, just to ease your mind. If it's negative and you don't get your period next month, I would definitely see the doctor. Keep us posted! Good Luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed that your tubes are still "crossed"!

Thank you for putting this in perspective. I have been stressed, I cut my work schedule from about 60 hours a week to 24 so I'm home more, and every time this time of year starts I think about getting pregnant. Thank you!

No form of birth control is 100% effective - only a hysdirectomy is 100%. It's just that your chances are very low. Pick up a test. Only way to know for sure.

I have a friend that's in the same boat as you. Except she has had her tubes tied for 3 years now with no problems except now. She has taken 4 pregnancy test which came back negative. Went to the doctor and had the blood work done, which came back negative. So now she went back to the doctor, and she's currently waiting back on the tests that she's done. Funny part, her mom had her tubes tied and had a baby, my friend's little sister is a tube baby. So my friend is really scared. Like you she has three kids and doesn't want anymore. Plus she can't afford to have anymore. So if you get a negative and your period doesn't come the following month. Go and see a doctor, now if it's postive. Well, you know the routine. Good luck.

My aunt had her tubes tied and burnt and then when she was forty five years old, she thought that she was going through menopause because she missed her period. She made an appointment with the doctor and discovered that she was pregnant. Her youngest child was twenty so it was a huge shock. The doctor had discovered that it was a tubal pregnancy and it had to be terminated due to it growing in the tubes and killing them both. It is possible for you to be pregnant but very unlikely. I would take a test or speak with your doctor about it.

Wow your that kind of person that is so fertile that no one seems to work for you to stop ovulating. I envy you my dear coz my wife seems to have a hard time conceiving nowadays although we have one child. Right now we are trying to conceive one but it seems quite hard. Anyway if your poisitive congratulation you're a truly baby factory LOL. Anyway from what I know Tubal ligation is 98% accurate so there is a 2% chance that it will not be effective at all haha I guess you belong to the 2% of the population. Anyway if baby is coming soon accept your blessing and addition to the family budget LOL.

Should I congratulate you or should I not? Ah, still.. congratulation when/if it is. A new comer, new blessings, have faith in there, soccermom. Yes this could happen, but probably uncommon. Take care of yourself, and all the best for you and the family, goodluck with the pregnancy test pack.

Tubal ligation has a failure rate of 1.4% - 2%. The pill has a failure rate of about 1%. So it is possible to become pregnant even after tubal ligation. Even though it is a minute chance, it could still happen. Before you stress yourself out, just buy a test. It will ease your conscience and make you feel better to know the truth.

Hope you wouldn't mind another one =) You never know what could happen!! My husband had a vasectomy and I know there is still a possibility that I could get pregnant one day, but only if the Lord thinks it is okay for us =) Get a test to make sure!!!

This is exactly the kinda thing that blows a person out of the water like WOW what a slap in the face.....It's crazy right u actually pay these people to tie ur tubes and the next thing u know ur pregant or maybe it's just ur body knows now there is some change and taking different reaction but all i can say is good luck...The same kinda thing happens when men get fixed they can still produce a lil one afterward's it's so strange but honestly I think no matter what a person does if it's God's will welcome it.....Could be just ment to be!!!! wish u luck

I do have a friend that about a year ago thought she might be pregnant after having had a tubal ligation. Like you she was always real regular. She wasn't thought it ended up being that she was in the beginning stages of menopause which can make your periods irregular. I would say get the test and see what it has to say. But if you don't start and are not pregnant I would check with your doctor just to see what's up. Good luck I hope it goes the way you want it to.

I guess anything is possiable. Something could just be off in your diet or stress or any number of things could be the reason. I think it is possiable but highly unlikely that you are pregnant if you got the operation done.

I have heard of this happening, but, I thought that it was extremely rare, but, perhaps it is not all that rare. Anyways, you might also have to make a trip to the doctor, so that they can get on top of everything and you wont have to be on your own. Don't worry, it's not like you have 20 kids, you only have three, and they are not really young. Hopefully, you are late for a not so scary reason. But, also, keep in mind, that a child is a gift, and so, even though you are feeling overwhelmed and did not want this child, you will realize that you are meant to be the mother, and it was a special gift.

It can and does happen, but another thing to consider is that a Tubal Ligation can and does screw with your monthly cycle. I had a tubal ligation back in 2000, and I'm now saving like crazy to travel to a clinic in the states to have it reversed. I suffer from a condition known as Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome - or PTLS for short. This means that every month I suffer from Chronic pain, I bleed very heavily for up to 10 days at a time. I lose huge clots every month and there are some days I can barely get out of bed. I tried to ask my Doctor about PTLS, but he doesn't believe it exists - same as many doctors, I was left with no choice but to save up and go private. I would get a pregnancy test just to be sure. There are a good few different ways of tying a womans tubes - if they used clamps, one may have worked its way off, opening your tube again. Good Luck and keep us informed.
