Do cartoons adversely affect children's psychological growth?

Should cartoons which do not educate children be pulled off air? Some of the cartoons of course involve violence and horror, which I feel definitely affect a child's psychological growth adversely. Are you against other horror shows and violent contents on TV, which also are exposed to children? I think we have a heavy dose of violence on TV; maybe people have begun to think that violence cures all diseases. Is banning these going to solve the problem? Is there any rationale behind such a move? Can't we explore other options such as monitoring and regulating channels airing such programmes rather than banning them?

Of Course, children can watch cartoons to a certain level, barring horror and violence. Nothing wrong in that. But, violence and horror in some cartoons will have an adverse effect on the children which will even affect their mental balance and cause fall a negative mark on their eduction. Thanks for your post anyway.
