Have you seen this? The patient are subject to get the disease. It awful that this could happen. Especially because it was inexcusable incompetence that cause the mishap! Health Minister Livia Turco was quoted as saying,"I cannot hide my preoccupation for an excessive alarm that could reduce trust in this system and slow the growth of donations, leading to further damage for other patients." Excessive alarm? i do not believe that. How could the alarm felt be excessive? I just can't believe that could happen in this day and age with all the screening equipment available. We had a similar situation here in ireland with contaminated bllod products causing hepititis and worse. I don't know how you can possibly have to much alarm in these instances!

Well Tammy as I said in another Discussion we put our Lifes into the Hands of these People and we are putting ourselves at a big Risk there. My Doctor was on about a possible Lung Transplant on me in 8 Years and I really do not know if by that time I will trust anyone to do this kind of an Operation.

I think I would be sure to not have it done in Italy!LOL I just could not believe the comment from the director. If there is a problem, there is not any over reaction, All actions are warranted. I hope this lab. tech. is punished. I know we all make mistakes, but this one could kill 3 people not to mention that this is a horrible disease that cause lots of other condition. I think the hospital should void all bills for these three and give them lifetime services. The lab. tech was negligent, and if I had peoples lives in my hands I think I would triple check all entries of all test results!

Holy smokes! WHat a crying shame. Those poor people. I don't think there's any excuse for their neglience. The nerve of Minister Livia Turco is a disgrace. I can't believe the condition of the hospitals in Italy. It made me wonder if we had hospitals here in American that are in violation of safety.

I am sure there are some. I do not think I have ever seen one with dog feces and litter in the halls, but some are quite questionable as to their practices.
