Mice have feelings to so don't call them illegal immigrants?

February 21, 2007 3:50pm CST
Apparently in the world of tender feelings, mice are now protected from harsh names. It’s no longer allowed to call them dirty, stinky and/or immigrants. Although the word “immigrant” in a thesaurus can also be, settler from abroad, newcomer, non-native and outsider, mice really don’t want to be called that. In fact when doing so, mice from as far as other countries take offense and complain passionately about you. So now we all know that rodents are no longer allowed to be “Flamed”, here is my question... Have you hugged a rat today? If you have or have not, why? Please feel free to share any POSITIVE stories you have about rodents. Please refrain from any bad things you may want to say about them, cause they can read (clearly better than many humans).

LOL.. watch this discussion be deleted too... But you are right, rats and mice do have feelings, and it is up to us to make sure they are not abused. Now that we know that there are mice on this site, I guess it explains all the one word questions and answers... they are just learning to speak human, and their tiny brains can't remember too much human speak...

I can't believe your last discussion on those cute vertically challenged rodents has been deleted. Do you know why? I was enjoying reading the comments and the mistakes people were making. That however wasn't your problem but by those who did not read the whole discussion properly. I must admit though I did hear a rumour going around that mice were forming their own union after the hate mail they have received demanding they get out of the country and go back home. They are even resorting to dying their fur to avoid attention. I know this because I met one on my way to work and he was in a right state, crying, feeling persecuted by all around him. I must admit I used to be really prejudiced towards them, but now I have seen the light and I have compassion in my heart for them!!

Why yes I do know why, here is the exact copy of the reason it was deleted.... "Yes, we read it, and the title of the post is misleading and it's rude. If the discussion was about mice, you should have put "Stinking dirty mice". The words "dirty illegal immigrants" is degrading to many of the myLot users and it was reported as abuse too many times to count. Next time, please don't use a misleading title in your discussion, state what it is truly about and this will eliminate any problems in the future. " LOL what a hoot! So members don't be creative what ever you do. :o)

They probably knew that if they had tried to explain those who complained wouldn't have read it. Shame too because I liked the other post. I thought it was funny.

I think it's a shame that we all should be plain and simple not to offend people who don't want to read beyond the titles and don't want to see any discussion that require some thinking or just require that you read the whole post lol Maybe you should have just posted a discussion saying: Do you like mice? Answer with yes or now. Anyway don't blame mylot people, they don't want to explain to countless people who reported it (and would continue to) what it really means.. probably many of them wouldn't understand anyway :( I don't mind losing another point responding to your discussions if this one gets deleted too lol Stay cheerful :)

OH MY GOSH!!! That is just too funny!!!! I do remember reading it thinking - wow, sunshine really has it bad for those illegals!! I know someone else posted something recently about illegals protesting because they didn't have the same rights as citizens. That was a great topic but I didn't remember who started it... Then I about fell off my chair laughing because I hated when I had mice!!! I don't remember if I responded to your discussion or not, but I did get a much-needed laugh out of it!!! What is really funny though, is that you said part of the reason was "The words "dirty illegal immigrants" is degrading to many of the myLot users" So I guess "many" of the myLot users want to be refered to as just "illegal immigrants"??? Although mice really are dirty creatures. But, not all rodents are!!! I love guinea pigs (rats without tails) and have huggged many!!! Oh, but they weren't illegals or dirty. I bought them fair and square at the pet store and we did bathe them occasionally (honestly, we did, they don't like it though).

So Funny! I had seen your last discussion subject and hadnt had time to read it...now I guess I wish I had! It did throw me for a second to see that "sort" of subject from you, but I realised it had to be something other than what it appeared to be at first glance. Along with being able to read, I have one in my house that tries to cook...he or she ( wouldnt want to offend with gender bias) also can lick all the peanut butter off three traps in the same night. I have seen my offender streaking around as some sort of black blur for about 2 weeks now. Now to find out they can read and have discussions deleted just tops off my week! How will I ever get rid of my friend? I really dont want to hug it! That could work though...kill it with kindness! By the way i like your new avatar!

Well I loved your earlier post on the mice. I thought it showed great creativity. That's probably why the mice didn't like it. Of course my cats did and wished the mouse we have in our garage would come inside to compalin, but he's too smart for that. We have a little mouse in our garage. He was obviously some ones pet, due to his coloring and actions. He doesn't try to come in but he's very cute. We call him Mr. Jingles after the mouse in The Green Mile. He comes out and looks at us but just runs around out there and then hides again.

Mice Have Rights Too! - Sunshinecups travails with mice have come to this happy story!
What a joy to see this post! I was so afraid that you wouldn't get it through. I have been sort of not feeling well and now am catching up on some back posts. I have not one but 2 stories about the little beasties. The first one is from when my children were very young. They used to make lollipops in a long string and you just tore off one at a time. I bought 2 strings of them and when I got home from the store, not wanting the kiddies to see them, threw them way atop the kitchen cabinets - and forgot about them! Several months later I was cleaning the cabinet tops and discovered them - only to find the just the sticks of all the red lollies remaining. All of the others were still perfectly intact. I found that so sweet and amusing that I made it a point that every time I went to the grocery store I would buy red lollies and throw them atop the cabinet for them - that is, until my sweet cat Mabel went running through the house with one of them in her mouth. - End of feeding the mice. Story 2 - The last house we lived in had several very small mice coming in when the weather was turning cold. I can live with them (at least I thought so) as long as they are living with me peacefully. After all they needed shelter from the winter and they were living mostly in my basement. The occasional ones that we did see were very fleeting and we had 2 cats at the time that I thought would take care of any "overage". Until.....One morning my partner was in the shower and bellowed for me. I went into the bathroom to answer. She had forgotten to put her towel within reach and asked for me to throw it over the rod. I grabbed it and as it was in mid-throw, I realized that a tiny mouse was hanging on to the bottom of the towel. EEEEEEKKKKKK! At that point, I screamed like a girl, threw the towel, shouted what was wrong, and told her there was only room enough in the bathroom for 2, not 3, and I was getting out of there! At that point we invested in some no-kill traps.~Donna

So mice can do some petitioning also eh?!;) Looks like they got their first petition over you then, I told you. You could've acted faster than them if you've already talked to your neighbors, it couldn't have had happened then. Well I guess that you're back to the drawing board again, and I bet the exterminators cna't be trusted either. I guess you have to rely on cats then, and tell your neighbors to get some also. I'm sorry that I cannot be of help to you and your rat problems, and sotrry if I can't say anything positive about them!;)

I have to say that this discussion is comical. I like mice. I think they're cute. I haven't hugged a rat today. Mainly because I don't have access to a rat. Plus they could bite if they are not familiar with humans. I didn't know that rats could read.

Yes. You r right. Its very harsh to criticize them as one of the ugliest and dirtiest animals in this world. Afterall like us they also have feelings and they deserved to be loved.
