Should we bother trying to 'rehabilitate' child molesters?

Many times when these people are caught our tax dollars are spent trying to rehabilitate them. The success rate of this is extremely low. How many chances should a predator get? I say one strike and you're out! We should be building more prisions to house these perverts, for life!

i totally agree with you. that is like all you hear about is how many kids and times a pedifile has molested someone. there really should be stronger laws for these people. there is no way to rehabilitate them. even if they get out and learn how to control there "urges" they are still there. really its like how many innocent kids have to suffer?

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THERE IS NO REHABILITION FOR THEM. I KNOW THIS PLACE THAT TAKES CARE OF mrdd PEOPLE. THIS ONE PERSON WAS A REGISTERED CHILD MOLESTER, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SUPERVISED IN PUBLIC, NO CONTACT WITH ANY CHILDREN. HE WAS IN A RESTURANT WITH HIS MOM AND SHE WASN'T WATCHING HIM HE FALLOWED A BOY INTO THE BATHROOM AT A RESURANT AND MOLESTED HIM. HE IS IN PRISON NOW. BUT NOW ITS TOO LATE THE POOR BOY HAS ALREADY BEEN HURT. IN MY OPINION HIS MOTHER SHOULD OF BEEN IN TROUBLE FOR NOT WATCHING HIM. HE HAD TRIGGERS AND IF YOU WATCH HIM YOU CAN TELL WHEN HE WAS HAVING URGES AND YOU CAN CALM HIM DOWN AND GET HIM THINKING OF SOMETHING ELSE. I NEVER WORKED WITH HIM HE WAS ARRESTED WHEN I WAS SUPPOSE TO WORK WITH HIM. I AM GLAD, I DIDN'T WANT TO WORK WITH HIM AND I I WOULD OF HAD TO I WOULD OF QUIT. THAT IS TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY FOR ME.

That's a shame, however, I don't think any fault should fall on the mother. She may have had a toddler at the table and you can't be in two places at the same time. You wouldn't think that it would happen in a restroom in a diner, more like a park. A mother can stand right outside the restroom door and her son could still get approached once inside. It's a shame when a person has to constantly hover over a child to try to keep them safe from predators! Think how scared you'd be if you grew up thinking something was always going to happen, you'd grow up fearful and phobic. Children need to be educated about such situations but still allowed some independence.

I agree. One strike and you are out! I also don't believe that prisons should have cable, or anything else that cost the taxpayers money. Put 'em all in solitary, it will cost us less on prison guards! Put them to work! Sorry for the harsh response, my taxes are going up again!

Don't apologize for your response, many of us feel the same way! These guys get such light sentences when they're caught that it usually takes a few times before they're even sent to prision. How many children get damaged in the meantime?
