how do i get referrals

I have tried so hard and can't get even one referral. While there are people who are getting even more than a thousand referrals? Can somebody tell me a good idea to get a referral.

It's not as hard as a lot of people seem to think it is. Use your referral url, links and banners in free traffic and banner exchanges such as TrafficSwarm.com, BizBla.com, FreeBanners.com, and the list goes on and on and on. I have 45 referrals and havent put much of an effort into it. Free traffic and banner exchanges can go a long way. Another Tip: Try using this link for your referral url, it gives the people more of an idea on what the site is about... http://www.mylot.com/o/affiliate.aspx?ref=YOURUSERNAME Replace "YOURUSERNAME" with your myLot user name. I am also trying very hard to sign up referrals. It is not easy. Friends seemed obliging but never joined. Lately, I did post my referral links on one site : http://webmasterquest.com/?ref=creationhub There seems to be quite a lot of hits and visitors.
