this guy just called me telling me that i signed up for vonage phone service. i told him i didn't sign up for it i was just looking at it.he did not seem to understand. so he kept going on and on. telling me that he has my email address and that this call was being recored and i told him again i did not order vonage and i did not want it. he still kept on asking me questions, by this time i got my kid screaming in my ear and i had enough.he was asking me about my phone service i told him i dont have phone service he said i pay more than 30 dollars a month for phone service, how do i pay for it when i dont have one. so i finally told him meanly that i don't want vonage and he really made me mad when i could hear him laughing. what is with that. do telemarketers bother you as much as they bother me?? what do you do to handle them?

I hate to be rude but telemarketers can be very persistent. Normally if Im not intereseted in something and I tell them politely and they still keep talking I just put the phone down on them. At other times I will pretend I dont speak English and cant understand a word they are saying. This is ofcourse when Im in the mood to annoy them. Believe me they hate it and they dont call back.

ill try that next time, not saying anything at all, im sure they will find that very annoying. Its only when youre nice to them that they dont leave u alone.

I used to work at a call center and part of the reason why you experienced this is because call center officers were taught to take no as an encouragement. LOL

I understand it is there job job but after so many "NO"s they need to take the hint and just say good bye. It wouldn't be so bad but if you got a screaming kid in your ear that you are probably busy and they need to let you go. That is defiantly one job I would not want to do!!!

I agree with that. I hated working in a telemarketing call center because I could tell that a person was getting frustrated, but didn't want to be reprimanded for not doing my two 'rebuttals.' It was stressfull and after 2 months I was out.

If it is just one caller that is bothering you then hang up. That usually puts an end tot he call prettty quick. Then if they call back jjst hang up again. I don't think it would be the same person because I don't think they even know what number they are calling. I heard that a copmuter does the dialing and the pers does the talking.

In the US, call the National Do Not Call Registry and sign up. Its free and the directions are easy to understand. http://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
