Do you know where felafel are originally from ? Did you know that felafel appeared in the middle east hundreds of years before "veggie burgers" ? Do you know that felafel are considered very healthy to eat ? Do you know how to make felafel at home ?

I know of this food and although I think it comes from the middle east I don't know where exactly. I am a vegetarian and have eaten this delicious dish many times. I wish I could make it at home but I am a poor cook. If you have an easy recipe I would like to try. all the best urban

Sure ! I remember a time in my country where restaurants were banned (all free enterprise prohibited , except that of the state) ,so we learned to make a lot of things at home . This is how WE made falafel : the most important ingredient is the BEANS (chick peas and/or peas and/or fava beans ) ! the bean you chose is to be MINCED with some coreander and a little onion ,giving a greenish (depending on which bean you choose) PASTE . After that we used to add some BREAD CRUMBS (bread that has been made into powder after it is roasted a little till it becomes hard and then can be pulverised either with pestle or electric mixer ) ,I think it is sold prepared in supermarkets .So after the crumbs are added to the paste , they are mixed and then : you are ready to start making falafel ! You take parts of the paste , make them into balls and throw them into cooking oil to be fryed until the outer layer turns golden/brown .

I love falafel. They're very yummy. They're healthy except that they're usually deep fried making them high in fat. Sometimes I'll make them at home, sauteeing them in a little oil and then baking to make them crunchier and healthier instead of deep frying.
