Do you ever give blood?

I don't give blood because I am absolutely terrified of needles . I have to get my blood taken quite a bit because of different problems that I have and dread everytime I have to go get checked to make sure my medication is working properly . I give credit to all of you who are able to do this as I see the reason behind it but would pass out if I had to have this done .

I haven't tried to give blood since right after 9/11. There was such an overwhelming number of people volunteering that the local lab (who I later learned ask you to "donate" blood but then charge the unfortunates who get it) asked us to make appointments. I did so, waited three weeks to do my patriotic duty, took the afternoon off work and sat in their lobby. My appointment time came and went and I wasn't called. I asked what was going on and they said so many people were just walking in that they couldn't get to me. I suggested those people ought to be asked to make an appointment, as I had been, but I got such a rude response that I walked out and haven't donated since.

I have given blood only once in my life.If you can save a life with this,this is the best thing you can do in this life.There is nothing to loose,if you donate the blood.

I have given blood and as with you, it is a great feeling. Personally I usually give at least 1ce a year over the last 14 years. I live in he middle of nowhere and it is hard to drive 45 miles or better, but I feel like I do my part when I do make it over that way. Noone likes needles, but to give someone something you have to help them live, is an awesome feeling!
