My favourite historical figure is the Mughal Emperor Akbar, Akbar -- The Great. I am very fond of his character, and respect him for many reasons. He did so much for the development of India during the Mughal rule. He made the Grand Trunk Road, the first and oldest Highway of India. He preached a religion called Din-il-lahi, that contained the best extracts of all the contemporary religions in India at that time. But the religion didn't become much popular. Also he had contributed to his empire's development in many other ways. He was among the best rulers who ruled in India, before the British rule.
