The basic difference between a Nutritionist and a Doctor is that Nutritionist knows a great deal of food. While a doctor knows a great deal about the human body. Obviously a Nutritionist can tell you what food is good, what is bad generally, or may give advice on how we can prepare foods so that most of its nutrition is maintained. But what our body require, what are the special dietary supplements we require, what kind of food we must consume can only be told by the Doctor after examining your physiology. The Nutritionist's work is to follow up the prescription of the doctor. About eating raw meat and raw eggs, I would not really recommend them. They cannot be easily digested by our stomach, and it may have many bacteria and other harmful organism. Especially, meat should be thoroughly cooked before it is consumed. Some healthy meals include: green leafy vegetables, red tomatoes, broccolis, the more color ( natural color, not artificial coloring ) your food has the more nutritious and balanced it is. So try to have many vegetables of different colors.

A doctor is an MD that can help treat any medical problems that you might have and can prescribe medications for you and they can of course make general suggestions for healthy eating. A nutritionist is a person that has at least BS in dietetics, food and nutrition or food service system management. They can help treat medical conditions through healthy eating. So they can tell you what foods to eat, how many calories to consume and help plan out meals for you. My grandmother saw a nutritionist along with a Doctor for treatment of her diabetes. They Doctor monitered her condition and prescribed her medication for it, and the nutritionist helped her with what she could eat and should eat and told her how to plan her meals and such. If you are just dieting to lose weight or wanting to eat more healthy than I would think it would be fine just to see a nutritionist. They could help you with that, but if you have some kind of medical condition that needs attention then I would always say see a Doctor--often they will send you to the nutritionist if they think you need to see one. Raw meat and raw eggs are not good to eat because you can get Salmonella or food poisoning from eating them raw. Fruits and vegetables are always good to eat cause they are low in fat and calories, high in fiber and nutrients. But you should eat food from all the food groups including meat, diary, bread and fruit and vegetables. There is a website www.calorie-count.com where you input what you eat in the day and they will rate your nutrition for you. If you are wanting to eat healthier this is a website you might check out. It is free to use.

wow! Thanks for the great information. I never knew that much about health. I was guessing that eating raw meat was bad for your health, but I was told eating raw eggs is good for your skin. thanks for the heads up on both. Thanks again for the explaination between doc. or nutritionist and the great website.

From a layman's point of view who can't diffentiate a scalpel from a paring knife, a doctor is someone who would give you a good figure by performing liposuction and a nutritionist is someone who would help you achieve your desired figure by planning your meals and letting you eat the right kind of food. A doctor is licensed to operate while a nutritionist doesn't need a license. A doctor takes up years of studies and has credentials while a nutritionist does not require one and anyone could just claim to be a nutritionist. A doctor is a regulated professional while a nutritionist is not. A doctor prescribes a cure while a nutritionist cannot prescribe a cure.

A nutritionist is more educated in nutrition. Every doctor has a specialty, pediotry, OB, pediatrics etc. Well, a nutritionist specializes in nutrition.

I think doctors must be taking more charge than a nutionist. In order to save some money people are doing that.vegetables are sources of different vitamins and minerals, you get protein and carbohydrates from wheat and rice, fatty acids from meat and milk and oils, butter, ghee etc.sprouted food contains good amount of vitamins and minerals.
