A Turkeys not just for christmas

Turkey

Many people eat roast turkey for christmas dinner, but how many eat it during the rest of the year? It is one of the lowest fat meats around and tastes delicious. I love turkey and cook it many different ways, my favorite is simply stir frying it with oyster sauce, noodles and broccoli. How do you eat your turkey?

I buy turkey all year round just like any other meat. However, there are only two in my family so I don't buy a whole turkey as there would be too much waste. I buy the turkey crown which has no waste and I usually roast it. I usually have roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables with it.

We don't eat it very often, but it's a cheaper alternative to chicken and can be just as tasy if you cook it right. I think a lot of people assume Turkey is dry, but it doesn't have to be. I like to buy strips of it and either stir fry it, like you, or just fry or grill it and have it with veg and new potatoes.

Yes many people think that it can be abit dry, I'll usually use a packet sauce mix if the meat turns alittle dry, and to add an extra flavour!

We alo don't eat Turkey taht much. But that does not mean that we eat Turkey only in Thanksgiving or in Christmas. Sometime I use ground Turkey to make casarole, use it to make a meat loaf and sometime for soup. For us it is not like taht we don't like Turkey, we like Turkey, but we eat chicken more. This is true Turkey is a low fat meat, so every one can eat it without feeling guilty. Last Thanksgiving we swa some people did use duck instead of Turkey.

I absolutely adore turkey. I love it way too much to onyl have it on holidays. This is especially true for me because my family does not have turkey on Christmas, we usually only have it for Thanksgiving. This means that a few times a year, I will go to the grocery store and buy a half or whole turkey breat and roast it in the oven. Most of the time I don't even eat it that day. I will let it cool and then slice it up for sandwiches or eat it through the week with gravy and then have a salad on the side. Oh that reminds me, roast turkey is great on a salad with dried and sweetened cranberies. It's almost like having a light version of Thanksgiving dinner that way. Thanks for this discussion. It's nice to see how many other people love to eat turkey.

We eat Turkey throughout the year. There are only 3 in our house, usually get the boneless, stuffed turkey. Love it roasted with gravy. Any meat thats left over, is used the next day in a curry or something.
