It was one of those bad days, when it seems as if you are driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street. On a day just like that I started menstruating when on the train.Stomatch cramps, backache coupled and vomiting sensation and claustrophobia made me sick. Numb with pain,I made my way to the public convenience outside the station. From a distance, I could see teenage boys chatting at the reception. Instinctively, I didn't wabt to use that place. It smelt awful, even from a distance. Left without a choice, I dragged myself to the station toilet. Pot-beiled men werre coming out of the gaseous hell, wiping their hands and patting their pauches reassuringly. As i approached the women's loo, I almost choked. It smelt horrid. There was no way I could relieve myself in a place like that. I turned and walked away. Needless to say, I did manage to find a decent tiolet. The counter was wet, thanks to the 'concerned' users, so I had to sling my heavy bag while attending to the emergency. the flush had long given up trying to work; the tiles on the floor had conceded defeat to muddy footprints. I was out ASAP. Once out, there was no dustbin in sight. I washed my hands under the trickle coming out of the tap, stepped out and finally, breathed.

Some restaurants have nice, clean toilet rooms. One time I was at a restaurant in a small town and I imagined the worst, but then I walked into the bathroom and it was just like an ordinary household bathroom and reasonably clean. Are people in big cities messier and dirtier? But most places are awful. When I was in highschool, all the girls liked to hang out in the bathroom. Why, I have no idea, it was a foul-smelling place, dirty and with bad lighting. Who'd want to hang out there??

I am not sure whether they don't use it.
