Missing person's report

I was just wondering how long you have to wait before doing a missing person's report. I heard that it was twenty four hours after the person has been missing. What about children? Is there a diffrent time frame for them?

I know for adults, they police wait 24 hours before fileing a report, but you can still notify them that you are concerned. If you are really concerned about this, you can call your local sheriff's office, not 911, and ask them what their proceedures are for missing adults, teens and children.

I haven't had problems with a missing person or anything, I was just wondering after watching a rerun of Missing. I think I may watch too many crime and detective shows. Damn that t.v.!!!

I am not to sure But I think it is the same for Children and I think it is depending on the Age of the Child. I think for really small Children there is no timelimit but when it is a Child from the Age of 10-16 there is the 24 Hour Waiting Time which I think is wrong in this Day and age.

I was thinking the same thing about children under a certain age. I would hope so anyways.

I believe technically you can do a missing persons report when you decide to, but the police might not start worrying until after 24 hours. For a small child that has gone missing im sure instantly would be a good time to report it

I know that in foster homes, you have to wait three hours before contacting the worker and the police. I think that they do this because there are a lot of kids who go out with their friends without telling anyone.
