I have old photos that are a hundred years old, they belonged to my grandmother. I have also her Bible with a text that is rather difficult to read. I treasure many beautiful textiles, hand broided tablecloths and towels with monograms and crocheted laces that are made by my mother and grandmother. Have you got some treasures in your closets? Or do you use them daily?

The only thing I had until recently was my grandmother's locket that my grandfather gave her (though I never met him). Her name is inscribed on the front (though spelled wrong LOL!). My father passed away a year ago this coming Monday. I have a pair of his loafers I use as house slippers. They are a bit big but they are comfortable and keep my feet warm (sometimes too warm). I will probably wear them until they fall apart. My mother has also given me a little leather box which has his rosary in it, and a wooden box in which he kept his cotton hankies. I also have two of his hankies though I seemed to have misplaced one. When I was really missing my Dad and wanted him to come to me in my dream, I went to sleep with his rosary in my hand. I didn't dream about him that night though. I also have some of his books. Some I may read and give away, others I will hold onto forever. My mother is still alive but she did give me one of her rings. I look forward to getting her Opal ring. We are both October babies, however so is my sister so there might be a fight over that one! LOL!

Thanks for sharing a part of your life. I have some books too, with old fairytales. It is nice to read them sometimes and perhaps I give them to my younger relatives if they want them.
