Paid in Full

If you pay a bill and it was just a partial payment, but you wrote in the memo "paid in full" and they cash it, is it true that the bill is legally paid in full?

no that is not true. if you made only a partial payment then you will still need to pay the remaining that is owing on that particular bill

Actually, many of the things they used to call old wives tales were and still are true, but this is is actually a hoax popularized by scam artists on the internet and so it is called an Urban Legend.
