Survivor Fiji - Episode Three Blues

Wahhhh... I weeped through the whole episode. Weeped for joy and sadness. First when Ravu's youngest tribmate, Michelle, started fire! Then when Jeff rewarded them with flint. Then when Papa Smurf took that horrible fall. Then when Ravu lost the reward challenge. Then when Sylvia was sent to Exile Island. Then when the medics came and all of Moto showed their love for P.Smurf. Then when Sylvia returned from Exile with a big smile on her face (trooper!). Then when Ravu lost the immunity challenge. Then when Ravu was so sad and pathetic at tribal cousil. Then when (wahhhhhhhh) Sylvia was voted out. I miss her already. Okay, so she took a nasty spill during the reward challenge, but she wasn't the only one. She totally toned down her bossy attitude - but she's still gone. No matter what I say, no matter how I look at it, she'll always be the third member voted off the Fijian Islands. Am I the only one weepy about this? Oh, and what's up with Yau-Man? I like him but he's getting on my nerves with his smarmy playing style. Plus, I guess I expected the older generation to stick together. Wahhhh...

I was really hoping that Ravu would win in this episode. It's really sad that they are in the loosing streak, they've got no food and their spirits are now really low. The only consolation is they have fire now.

Totally. I think we're all rooting for the underdog. We're like the Robin Hoods of Survivor Fiji. And for the "lush" team members to get all bent out of shape for feeling "taunted" during a challenge is just as poor sportsmanship as the team doing the taunting. However, if I was hungry and thirsty after not eating for a week, I might have behaved the same. Go RAVU!!

So weird - the "gross eating challenge" as you say (love that) wasn't nearly as squirmy for me this time. I guess I felt Ravu's hunger. None of it really bothered me. Mind over matter. Well, I suppose it helps that I was sitting on my couch eating ice cream. :D Thanks for your response.

Yao-man wasn't smart enough to realize he should have stuck with Sylvia. He doesn't seem to get that the young people will turn their back on him very quickly. I notice on the show the older folks tend to be more trustworthy and stick to their alliances (like Richard Hatch and Rudi Boesch). Sylvia seemed pretty trustworthy too. After this episode (and the previous groping episode) I wouldn't mind seeing Yao-man go. He totally stinks at challenges too.. how many times did he miss making that basket? I was cringing every time someone fell in that challenge. It was very painful to watch. I felt so bad for Papa Smurf too. I hate seeing anyone get hurt.. but it really makes you feel bad when it is an older person. I have to admit, I felt bad when Sylvia got voted off. I agree, she really did try to keep her bossiness in check.. (although she really wasn't back at camp that long). If I was her though, I would have been digging like a mad woman for that immunity idol. It looked like she was throwing sand around with that coconut shell. I know she didn't want to attract attention but really she should have known that her butt was on the line and she needed that idol. I kept thinking she could have made up some reason/excuse to dig where the idol was. And what was up with that girl voting for Earl? Did I miss something? It seemed kind of random that she would vote for him. (It would have been interesting of she voted for Anthony and then he would have been tied for votes with Sylvia). I bet Sylvia could have beat him in a fire challenge.

I agree - that challenge was painful to watch. Remember, Sylvia wasn't the only one to go to Exile Island. If she drew attention to her digging, then (whats-his-name-who-went-the-second-time) would've caught on, because he had the second clue. But you're probably right, fight or flight - dig woman, dig!! The Earl vote (I believe) was so that there would be no tie. I think the whole thing was planned. Those who refused to vote for Sylvia vs. those who wanted her to go. Because if it were a tie, yes, Sylvia would've made fire in a flash. She did it alone on Exile. Yes, Yau-Man is on his own in this game now. He's weak and not as smart as I originally thought. I think he panicks and it shows (like his groping for the idol). Poor guy. For once I would love to see the real strong players make it to the end. Most of the end-players are the under-the-radar players from the beginning. They do just enough not to be noticed as a threat. (hmm...strategy).

Thanks for the scoop on the vote. I was using my computer during the last part of the show and I obviously missed some stuff.

Unfortunately they are not showing survivor in the UK :( I guess we might get to see it later in the year, I did watch the first series which I thought was great. From your post it sounds like the new series is fantastic, maybe I can download it from somewhere...

It's not looking too good for P.Smurt did you see the previews for next week. I'm gonna miss him if he has to go, I really like him. Though Rocky has to be one of my fav's, I really think we're gonna be seeing alot of him...Still too early though I really haven't connected with anyone yet.

I hope P. Smurf get well really soon and hope he doesn't have to discontinue being on Survivor. I haven't seen anyone who has a real tight bond or alliance with anybody.

Well, I certainly didn't weep, but I felt a great sense of pride for Michelle's efforts and how 'bout her comment, "We're not going to die!"? Good for her for keeping at it. That sliding challenge was painful to watch. I too cringed with each fall but then wondered how people didn't know to charge at it head first after watching the others. I was really surprised at the medics leaving Papa Smurf at camp after he stated that he wasn't sure he "could even remember his name". The editing certainly did show a caring Moto. As for Sylvia, I was more surprised that she slid through last week. She had nothing to add to the tribe and should have been voted out before Erica as far as I'm concerned. Yau-man is definitely getting on my nerves. I hope he's the next to go. I was definitely hoping that Ravu would win just to knock Moto off their high horse. What was with the comment about not taunting??? What "good sportsmanship"? I didn't see Moto sharing any of their winning items with Ravu. I liked Rocky's comment about see how you feel when you've lost this many challenges. I hope Ravu gets their act together soon and gives Moto a taste of losing. Do you think that they will change camps when they win? I think that would be only fair, but I'm not optimistic.

I wondered the same thing when the first few slid all over that slippery mat during the challenge, why did not anyone figure out the way to do it is to make a dive for it BEFORE their feet hit the slippery mat? Yeah, Moto's sportsmanship comment was uncalled for. I loved Rocky's response about having to vote members off. Poor guy, he really tried hard to hold his tongue there - did a great job of not losing his cool. I have a lot of respect for him. I wondered if they would switch camps at any time during this game. Quite possible given all the new twists. Makes things more exciting. Thanks for your response.
