Fire!!! Fire!!! ---What Would You Be Sure to Grab?

Those words can strike fear in the heart of the strongest men and women. My question is: at that moment, suppose you have 5 minutes to gather up and safely remove 3 things from your home, what would those 3 things be and why would you choose them? We will assume for this discussion that all family members and pets are out of the house so don't count those. This should produce some interesting answers...

I cant live without my computer, so that would be number one, all my pictures are stored on it. So I would just need it and not pictures. I would grab my purse and my cell phone. I am very technology minded and I cannot live without my technology.

Those are smart things to grab. I too have a lot of my pictures saved on my laptop. For the rest, I have the negative stored safely away so I wouldn't actually have to grab pictures either. Isn't technology wonderful. If you lived where we lived, you would have to have your own cell phone to call the fire department too.

I actually live about 10 miles out of town...a town with two red lights...in a wooded area that can barely be seen from the road. We are living in a cabin on a pond that my parents built until we build our new house. The day the last nail was driven on the cabin, we had a fire on the front porch that started from faulty wiring of a table saw. We had family that lived farther away from us than the fire department was...and they arrive about 10 minutes after all our families were here and had put the fire out.

yes.. its nice to answer this specially presence of mind is needed when there is fire. 1. I will get all the statue of Mary and Jesus- I have a miraculous black nasarene who help me all through my life I will definitely save it 2. all important documents -passports, titles, and all records of my whole family specially those records from school 3.pictures -I have albums a whole cabinet to be exact its a pictures of 3 generations once it is burn I cannot gather it back again, its a documentary of our familys journey pictures of happy moments and important events close to our hearts, memories of our childhood and as a parents and memories of our children wherein we cannot go back there only thru scaning and looking at those pictures

I can see where those things would be very important to you. I can certainly see why the pictures would be so important. Are the negatives for those pictures around somewhere...and safe? We have all the pictures we have ever taken in our house, but all the negatives are in safe deposit boxes at the bank or in my parents' house. You really have a good plan of action. Thanks.

1) My purse - have my bible, addresses, and all account information in there. 2) I know this isn't one thing but on my dinning room wall I have all my favorite family pictures - I can clear the wall in under a minute, I would take all of those. 3) Besides the bible I carry in my purse I have 2 other bibles that have sentimental value to me because of who gave them to me and I would take those.

Can't believe this but hours later was thinking about this discussion and realized my computer wasn't on the list. I don't know where it would fit - most likely 4th item but as I spend so much time on my laptop I often feel it's attached to me so didn't think about it but it would have to go also.

I hadn't thought about the computer to begin with either. Once it was mentioned, I realized how important that would be to me too. I like your choices. Thanks for sharing.
