Can anyone 'lend me a hand' - can help be lent?

Came across a similar topic and thoughts just came. How many will believe that help can be lent. Why do we go asking for people to lend us a helping hand. Are they suppose to ask us for the hand when they need it back ? IMO help is always only given and never lent. You help people out of the generosity of your heart and not so that people will return it to you.

According to the laws of the universe, you shall gain when you lose. So by giving help, you already gained something in return. Expecting someone to give something back in return is plain greedy.
