I think it makes no difference. The body has enough reliable feedback mechanisms to ensure that food is digested and absorbed properly. Acid and other digestive enzymes are secreted in response to pH so never mind the dilution. Further enzymes are secreted when required. Dry food is also made wet by enough mucus. Only if you have reflux disease - food regurgitating back into the food pipe with central chest burning - reducing water intake with meals is recommended as one of the modalities to reduce reflux. So drink as much (water) as you feel and when you feel. Remember, thirst is generated in response to body requirement of water.. What do you say ?

Dear friend, You are absolutely wrong. While eating one must avoid drinking excessive water beacuse water dilutes the digestive acids, thus weakening the process of food digestion. This may result in several problems realted to gut, the digestion becomes weaken. According to Aurveda it is advisable to drink water after one hour of food, in between the meals one can have, one or two sips if it is required. So pls confirm with any good Dr who is MD in Gastroenterology or a good Aurvedacharya. You are right that when body nedds water one must drink as much as his appetite permits, but here also one must drink water while he is seated and drink very slowly no gulping of water is permissible. SO my opinion regarding water comes to an end. Pls respond to this, I have written about AIDS, pls read it and advise. Rajkamal. ID: Dhanvarsha

According to a medical research study, drinking anything cold with,or after a meal is NOT good.....In China they drink hot tea with and after all their meals and have the lowest heart attack rate.....why?Because the hot tea helps to break down fats the can get into your intestines and form clots.....so I say save the cold water for well after your meal and enjoy a hot drink with

Yah i agree that it's really okay. it doesn't matter since even taking a sip would aid you in swallowing your food
