Mountaineering

The first mountaineer is Bachendri Pal who climb Mount Everest. Bachendri Pal is one of the, great mountaineer. She is the first Indian lady to climb Mount Everest. She has a passion for nature and natural things. That is the reason why she was attracted towards mountains. She was born on 24th May 1954 in Nakuri (Uttar Pradesh). After finishing her M.A., she took up teaching as a profession. But her desire for mountaineering was bubbling in her heart. So she took up a primary and higher course of mountaineering from Nehru Mountaineering Academy, Uttarkasi. She climbed three peaks and tried for the Mount Everest in 1982. Luck favoured her only in 1984. She climbed Mt. Everest twice. Now she is the member of many institutes and is employed in TISCO for Adventure Programme. She leads the programmes in a planned way with passion and courage She has been, awarded with Padmashri, Arjuna Award etc.
