is avast the best free anti virus software to download

i have avast that i downloaded for free and i was just wondering if anyone has better free software!!!

I don't have experience in free av progs...only one I know of is AVG But I can recommend you some 'paid' good av progs, you should try... 1. NOD32 2. Bitdefender 3. Kaspersky you give them a try...the trial ones are free... ~MSD~

You should try Avira AntiVir. Its rated better than Avast and it doesn't run nearly as slowly as Avast. It isn't as complicated and bloated either.

I'm using AVG and I absolutely adore it. Norton used to interfere with some of my programs and give me problems, but this never happened with AVG:) I strongly suggest that you all give it a try:D

For free antivirus I think Avast is good. But i will suggest you to use Norton. Personally I feel, Norton is the best.

I uninstalled Norton Antivirus 2005 from my roommates system and then i installed avast.The system was now running much faster than earlier.I am using avast from past few days and i must say that it working very smoothly.
