What do you use for your dry skin?

With the winter weather and being indoors with the dry heat along with outdoors in the wind and cold I've hit the "dry as an alligator" stage. It's my body that's dry, not the face. What do you use for your dry skin? I've tried a ton of different stuff and I'm still itchy and dry!

Well I use a face moisturizer that works wonders on the whole body actually. It's one I got from the dollar store. It's their Personal Care line and it's an alpha-hydroxy age defying one. It works great. I love how it makes my skin feel. I have really dry skin on my feet and it helps make it a lot better.

Hi! I always have dry skin in the winter too, especially my hands. They get red and split. I tried Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion and I love it! I've had very little dryness since I've been using it and it has really kept my hands from getting chapped. The really good thing about it - it smells like sugar cookies! LOL Hope that helps! :-)

Hey girl. How's u today? Try bath oil (Keri or ask the pharmacist). You can also use oatmeal bath (there is oatmeal made for this - Aveeno). Both these things really goop up your tub but it's worth the tub wash with Old Dutch or Comet if you feel better. Sea salt oil body scrubs are also very good. (Ask your Aloette rep about this if you can't find it in the store but I think they have something similar). If you don't have an Aloette rep let me know and I will hook you up. She will have items direct shipped to you by UPS or Fedex or mail, I don't know which. They are expensive but worth it. Try Aveeno body lotion too. It is good moisturing plus oatmeal ingredients. The Aveeno stuff is in the pharmacy not by direct sales.

if you have heard about ayurvedha, then you must be knowing what to do.I think in ayurvedha, they suggest to apply coconut oil on your skin which help you protect your skin from dryness. And i think we also can use olive oil for this..I suppose... (For your kind information, Ayurvedha is the indian version of medicine )...

I dont know if this will work good on you.Try to take a hot bath that you can tolerate. As soon as you finished and your body is still dump wet spread some baby oil all over your body and finished showering w/ the reduced hot water into a little bit cold to seal your pores..when you finish just path your body w/ dry towel..dont rub..Preferably you do this before bedtime.Ok..I hope it helps..Let me know.

Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion - This product has done wonders for my dry skin!
I get really dry skin (especially my legs) and the product that I've found does the most is "Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion". It's a little more pricey than some of the lotions out there, but after giving up on the cheaper products I tried it and was very satisfied with the results. The biggest thing that I noticed with this product is that it didn't make my skin itch, which is very important when dealing with dry skin.

I just found some advices in a magazine: drink a lot of water or herb tea. So you are moisturising your skin from inside to outisde. Put basins with water in each room. Do not take shower more than once a day. Don't use soap every day. Use baby soap only. Use body creme after every shower, the best ones are without pefume and conservants. Use body creme also after being outside more than one hour. Hopefully the tips are helpful, I have used the water basin trick myself in my bedroom.

Funny you are posting this cause I was thinking of it. I don't remember ever having dry skin as bad as I have this year. Even my 9 year old is complaining of it. Now I normally would have it on my hands because I don't wear gloves so that I'm use to but this year I have it everywhere. I have been using moisture therapy from Avon. Does it work?? Well I guess so but you have to keep using it.

I highly recommend a humidifier in your bedroom. My skin is so bad I regularly spend the winters leaving blood footprints everywhere I go. This winter I have a small humidifier. I'm still dry, but nowhere as bad as normal.

I use Eucerin cream on my knees and elbows, they're so dry. Then either Eucerin lotion or Jergens Lotion...something with a lot of moisturizer on it. Also, I sometimes put lotion on a washcloth and use it to rub on my back if it's dry. Also, use a really good moisturizing body wash or soap.

I get some oatmeal flakes, put them in a sock, tie the end off and dump it into a bathtub. The oatmeal is very soothing to dry flaky skin. Let the water cool down a bit before you get in, the heat will dry you out more. If you use soap, look for some that are "superfatted" - that makes them less drying to the skin. Avoid the commercial brands, go for the home-made varieties - they're more expensive but they're worth it. I buy mine from http://www.althaea.biz/. Warning, they don't foam much because of the high fat content. I just use regular skin lotion for after my bath - avoid anything with perfume in it as those tend to irritate skin when it's already dry. Try a few until you find one that doesn't feel oily or watery. (I like Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion, but everybody has a different favourite.) Shea butter is really good for major problem areas - I use it on my feet. Be aware that it's really greasy so you may want to put it on when you can spend some time in a bathrobe to let it soak in. You can probably tell from this response, I have the same problem you do!
