Hi there, my mother tongue is Bengali but my parents brought me up speaking English as my first language as we live in London. My husband is Telegu and speaks it fluently as well as Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, English (obviously), some Italian, some Spanish, some Polish, some Russian, some Marathi, some Punjabi and some Gujerati. Kinda puts me to shame a bit huh? I did French for over 10 years and have an O level in it and a Business French certificate but barely speak it now! Funny how you forget if you don't practice... Oh and I understand some Hindi which is purely from watching Bollywood films! :)

I am living in Ireland and our mother tongue is Irish. It was compulsory to learn it at school but it is only spoken in a few parts of Ireland. Most of us here speak English as our first language.
