What do you think of Prince Harry going to Iraq? Is he doing something honorable or does he not know what he's getting himself into? Or both?

I don't think he knows what he's getting himself into, and at the same time it's a very honorable thing to do. I don't know how the British trains there troops, but in America they basically break a person down and then build them back up to the way the Marines, Army, Navy, and the AirForce wants them. His country should be very proud of him. I pray for all the troops that are going, already there, and the ones coming home. Doesn't matter what country they are from.

I know how you feel. I've been praying for them too, and for the families of the ones who don't make it home.

I love Prince Harry for this gesture. I think he is very brave and more than that very empathetic. He doesn't have to do this and although I think he will be well insulated, I respect him for wanting to be with his platoon. I say, elevate HIM to King then elect him president of the U.S.A. because we have a president who shirked his duty and we need someone we can respect.

I agree that he is brave and empathetic. I hope he and all the rest of the soldiers get to go home soon. Wouldn't that be nice, having a repectable president? It'll happen.

I was pleased, maybe even proud to hear that Harry joined the military a few months back. But when I heard his unit was being deployed, I was shcoked. Prince Harry is a soldier, and should be treated like every other soldier in the British forces. But you have to wonder at the logic of putting a royal into THIS conflict. What are the chances the terrorists will target his unit in an attempt to capture him? Do you think Britain and America would stick to their NO NEGOTIATIONS stance if the hostage is a British royal? To me, it just seems irresponsible. There are plenty of other deployments that could have put him in combat zones without a history of terrorist kidnappings. This just makes no sense to me, an makes me feel bad all over.

I hadn't even thought of the possibility of his unit being targeted. I wonder if that would make other soldiers try to avoid being with him. How unfortunate. I think "no negotiations" means none for the press.

Well since the beginning of battles, royalty has gone to war and led their troops. This type of thing of late hasn't happened as much. I think its honourable, but no more so than any other man or woman also in the war.

Thanks for your answer. I rated it positive. The comparison with other men and women was an excellent point.
