Bamboo does NOT like Flouride. Do not use tap water for bamboo, because flouride is added to the water in the US. You need to use bottled water on bamboo. and make sure there is enough water and enough sun light for the plant.

If you live in the city, and use city water it is added, if you have a well you can use that water.

if itsa lucky bamboo plant u have to keep changing the water every week.always keep the water levels 1 inch from the base of the canes. if its a lucky bamboo, it prefers lots of indirect sunlight and room temperature at 65-70 degree , although opinios differ on feedings. your lucky bamboo is a living organism so it makes sense to occasionally add a mild solution to the water such as African Violet fertiliser.since growth can be controlled by feeding , small amounts of fertilisers will keep the plant at a manageable size. if the leaves are turning yellow then there must be some reasons like too much of direct sunlight, tooo salted or heavily flouridated tap water . so take care if by reading this can help it a little.

It either is too wet or not wet enough. If its too wet put in awarm place where it can get sun. And you know the rest. I hope it is okay let us know.

Bamboo Plant - I think it is in a draft from the door!
Mine are in water and I've had them about 3 month and were doing great now a couple of the leave have also turned a very light yellow here what I found. Use clean water Lucky Bamboo can have fluoride problems. so try to stay away from tap water. Fluoride in the water can lead to top burn. If you cannot avoid using tap water, at least let it sit out over night so that chlorine will evaporate this will minimized the effect of chlorine. If possible change water oftenly (every 3-7 days) or sooner if it get murky Lucky Bamboo with more leaves will required more water than the one without leaf. Make sure you put in enough (but not too much) clean water to keep all the leaves green. If some of the leaves turn yellow, it is sign of not enough water. don't worry just put more water then use clean sharp scissors to trim off those yellow leaves. And sometime the lucky bamboo just adapts to a new environment. Do not worry the new leaves will grow Hope this helps. I think mine have been in a draft so I'll move them and see if it helps. Hi, What kind of bamboo do you have? Is it the lucky bamboo they sell at the local mart stores? If this is the case it is called Draceana, not bamboo. If it is Draceana and the main stem has lost its green... good luck reviving it. An employee of mine took one of his friend's Lucky Bamboo Draceana out of the water & put it in a potted plant. It lived longer than the others & as far as I know it is still alive.
