Taco Bell - taking a chance with your health?

Recently there was another incident where a Taco Bell was closed for health reasons. This time it was a rat infestation. The particular store had been cited in years past for the same problem! After hearing this I will never eat at a Taco Bell ever again. Taco Bell is owned by YUM Foods. The same company that owns KFC and Pizza Hut. There are never any KFC or Pizza Hut stores in the news for any safety concerns. Is the YUM company trying to get rid of Taco Bell?

Ewww..that's weird because in the area I live in a Taco Bell was temporarily closed a while ago for a similar reason. Is it just a Taco Bell thing or what? I think that is really gross, and it makes me not want to eat their either. I don't really know why this is, but I think places should be a lot more careful with health and stuff, especially places that are serving food!

I don't eat a lot of take out food, but we do eat out a lot. If I feel that a place doesn't look clean, I won't eat there. Odd are if the front is dirty and the bathrooms are gorss, the kitchen is worse.

Well I will tell you this, I don't believe they are trying to get rid of Taco Bell, it is a lack of concern and care. Just like you can get away with certain things in some areas but not in others. Most Taco Bells in CA. Have an "A" rating for cleanliness etc. I don't know if you use this system or something similar down there, but the letter of the rating is put in the window of the rest. near the entrance for all to see. At any rate you mentioned that they had been cited before. The question that now needs to be raised is was there a follow up investigation, and what happened. If this particular rest. hardly ever had a follow up inspection then they would be used to not taking things seriously. In addition these rest.'s do not buy the property they sit on it is often a very long lease after the first lease has been completed to see how business is. And in many case's it would have been the property management or owners responsibility to take care of the rat infestation. All depending on the contract.

They do have the rating and it must be displayed. NOrmally the take outplaces have one in the store and another in the drive through. I haven't eaten Taco bell in quite soem time and the last one I ate at did have a "B" rating. That building was recently demolished. In this one case, they had been citied the last 3 years for rat infestation. Regardless of whom was responsible for getting rid of the trats, the owner of the franchise should not allowed it to reopen (or stay open) knowing that there was an issue.
