"Best" is relative, and even the most articulate speaker may also enjoy "writing" out a message, especially ahead of time for a public delivery. I'm deeply impassioned in my writing, but I don't go MUTE in front of people. I've also spoken in front of large groups as well as one on one. For me, writing allows "Time" often, to express with more latitude, freedom, privacy in creating what I want to say, and yet EXPRESSING is really what it's all about. Personal "speaking" is usually spontaneous and interactive, and can be as valid as any other way to project a thought or feeling. I won't point a finger, but some of the most well known people on the planet, even in the USA, in the highest postions possible, can't connect their thoughts with their mouths, when it comes time to speaking, aloud. In large measure that may only be because those thoughts aren't strictly original but generated by "speech writers"??? ALTHOUGH one might think that to go on TV for example, visible to 300 million people, might suggest some practice run through of the text? Writing, if it's a passion, as it is with me, allows me to explore, expand and share thoughts and feelings, I might stumble over in a face to face situation. I'm well educated, have a high IQ, and have been a writer for more than 50 years. I've also been able to "speak" for approximately 62 years, yet sometimes, even now, I step on my tongue,,,smiles. If YOU feel comfortable expressing through spoken language, then don't deny that to suddenly change to expressing more in a written format. One more thought... The SUBSTANCE of what we say is as important as "How we say". Similarly, a BOOK, or reading the written word has to have Substance, in our opinions, if it isn't going to put us to sleep.

it's writing for me. i best express myself if i simply write them down. besides, it gives me the opportunity to think and internalize the things that are in my heart and mind.

I like writing because you can think about what you are going to say and go back and edit so it sounds right, but once the words are out of your mouth, you can't take it back!

Both. I do more talking than writing although I enjoy writing. Talking is something that I do everyday. I write just about everyday as well but talking takes the cake.
